Re: Man, Kids And Their Honesty...

My right arm has been ****ed up since birth. Every once in awhile a kid will ask me what happened. I don't really mind it much, but everyone else makes a big deal of it.

If a woman asked me, though, man, ah gots some STORIES!

Men in the water... Shark in the water...

Re: Man, Kids And Their Honesty...

I once got woken up by my little cousin, who felt it necessary to jump in the air and land on my groin with his knees. Sleeping on a mattress on the floor, with kids around is NOT a good idea.

"Mom, let's get the **** outta here!" That is what I said at my Kindergarten screening, way back when. It wouldn't have been so embarrassing for my mom if I hadn't yelled it at the top of my lungs.

When I was a little kid I thought I was immune to eating soap. Never ate it much, though, just foam occasionally.

Hey, Whyner, hurry up and tell us the next part of your sig story.

Ahhh... I have a ton of stories from when I was a kid... Here's a sample.

I was about 3 years old at the time. It was a nice neighborhood, very high-class. I was with my cousins and some friends, and ran in the middle of traffic. Now the lady (in her late 40's) who almost hit rolled down her window and told me

"Little boy, you should watch where you're going."

            My responce?

            "Screw you bittz!"

I can only imagine her reaction. A preppy woman driving a Cadialac being told "Screw you" by a three year old. Priceless.

I don't remember any of this, of course. But it's a great story. I always seem to hear it at weddings.

Re: Man, Kids And Their Honesty...

My son is 8. When he was younger, he would say the most outrageous stuff to people. He was never physically aggressive though. In my opinion, you have to catch that stuff early cause all kids go through it. He slapped my arm once when he was about a year and a half because he didnt want to take a nap. That got him a sound smack on the butt. After that it didnt happen again.

              Anyway.

People loved coming up to my child in public places to talk to him and tell him how cute he is. A lot of times it would be elderly women. One time a lady walked up to him and started talking to him. He had to be about 2 at the time. He looked up at her and said "You're very old. Does that mean you're going to die soon?" She just laughed and said something like you never know. I about died, thats for damn sure. It got so bad that I would have to avoid people that I figured he would ask questions or make comments to! One time we were eating at a restaurant and an eldery woman came by with a walker and an oxygen tank; I broke out in a cold sweat because he had not seen her yet and I didnt want him to. So she comes by, he looks up at her, she says hi and he just sits there for a minute and finally says "HI!" By this time I am practicaly having a fit and trying to get him to talk to me about something, anything! I finally think its safe and sure as ****, he looks over at her and practicaly yells "I HOPE YOU DONT DIE!" and really meant it.

Then of course there are people who need some dental work done, he would always ask them what happened to their teeth. People trying to talk to him with bad breath, him turn his head away so he doesnt have to smell it and they wont take the hint so they just keep talking....he finally looks at them and tells them that their breath stinks.

Then there are people who have been injured or are challenged in one way or another. When my son sees that, he gets upset and really wants to go over and help or hug them. One time we had a friend over for dinner and her adult son has spina bifida and uses crutches to walk. One time he got up and Aidan ran over and asked if he needed something. Brian told him that he was just going to go to the bathroom and my son asked if he needed help getting there.

Most young children are just curious about life and the differences between people. Sometimes they are down right concerned but none of it is meant in malicious ways. Now that my son is older, he knows that even though its meant in a non-mean way, you dont say or do things like that. He still gets just as concerned for people no as he did then and I really hope he doesnt loose that.

That's from a Gorillaz song. Pretty neat song too.

You're kid is a G. I really do hope that when I'm a parent I can get my kids to keep their honesty like this. Maybe not be so blunt like Snarf's kid(although that's gotta be the cutest thing I've ever heard of a kid doing) but not afraid to speak their mind.
