I could rant on about how disgusted I am by a system wherein one has this requirement to prove how "valid" their relationship is to some faceless bureaucracy, and how exploitative and extortionate it is to young couples who simply want to be together.

My partner of 9 years and I can live together, we just can't get married. They'll screw you no matter which way you're trying to go!
