    Re: A Game of Thrones

I just finished watching episode 4... I hope y'all're right about it picking up in episode 5 and forward, because there's sure a lot of bad acting going on in it.

Peter Dinklage is great. then about 50% of the people are doing acceptable jobs, and about 50% need to be replaced immediately. like, it could happen in the middle of the show, with a big vaudeville cane pulling them offstage, and i would be ok with it. as long as they stopped talking.

Which characters? I thought a majority of the casting was done pretty well...

I was pretty disappointed in Sansa this past episode. Like, I hope she's saving up her talent for the end or something, because I had no idea what was going on in her head.

I'm also not really in love with Cersei. More of a casting issue with me. She's too calm and nice, and not fake nice. And she acts all calculating, but isn't she supposed to be the hot-headed one?? Also she's constantly making weird faces, pressing her lips together and knitting her brow

I haven't focused too much on anyone else. Robert was fantastic, and then, well

kefka is quite right about those two. i dont like sansa's acting, it just doesnt feel natural to the scenes. this couldnt of been more true then in episode 8.

also i would of thought cersei would be a much more cunning and guarded character. instead she has all these idiotic expressions moving across her face every time she does something. in the political world she'd of been read like a book and beaten out it.

the depth was in the book for these two characters, but the onscreen acting isnt as strong.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

Sansa is definitely the weakest character in the TV series, but I think part of that is due to her character not really having an identity or personality (yet?). I'm indifferent to Cersei, neither positive or negative feelings about the actress playing her.

                  Character development's important, though!

Rever read the books. After all, Martin will probably never get around to finishing them at his pace. Also doesn't sound like something I'd enjoy either.

I'm just about finished with book 1.

Loki's original arguments about weak writing skill hold true, IMO. I had to put the book down about every chapter or so, because reading it is tiresome.

However the story and characters are awesome~ Gonna be picking up book 2 as soon as I'm done.

                            And, dat Tyrion.

I'm caught up to the newest book, gonna start reading it after this weekend.

So many terrible terrible things happen, and most of it is very grotesquely described, which isn't exactly the most interesting thing in the world to read. But almost every character that gets more than one narrative chapter is fun as hell to read. They're pretty much all psychotic, brooding, obsessive perverts... oh wait, lords and ladies and kings and queens, of course they are. ~
