What's the point of having an emergency response system if you can't provoke the wrath of God?

No, I don't want that. Welfare should be minimized, but provided only where it makes sense(disabled without family, orphaned, ect.). I would rather have a society where there are no taxes on wages or property at all, and that necessitates a small government; what government does exist, there is nothing wrong with having the investor class pay for it.

So, despite Al Franken voting to pass this censorship bill, he sent out a mass e-mail today talking about net neutrality.

I wanted to make sure you were up to date on some important developments in our fight to protect net neutrality and stop big corporations from controlling the flow of information in America.
As you know, the FCC can protect net neutrality by putting in place regulations that prevent Internet Service Providers from giving prioritized access to corporations that can pay for it.
This week, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski made a proposal that the full FCC will consider later this month. We don't yet have details on his proposal, and we need to remain vigilant to ensure that it doesn't allow ISPs to discriminate unfairly.

Meanwhile, we've seen reports that Comcast is already announcing future personnel decisions for NBC/Universal--even though that controversial merger hasn't yet been approved. This is arrogant--and may even lead to violations of federal antitrust law. I'm going to keep fighting to make sure that any illegal behavior is investigated and stopped. And we need to keep putting pressure on the administration to block--or put rigorous conditions on--this merger.
We've already heard that Comcast may be engaging in anticompetitive behavior. Just a few days ago, Comcast reportedly imposed a new fee on Level 3 Communications--the company that will likely be the main online delivery provider for Comcast's competitor in video services, Netflix.

It's clear that our efforts are making a difference. But the big corporations who want to rule the airwaves and the Internet aren't giving up without a fight. The next weeks and months will be critical. And I'm glad I've got you on my side.
          Thanks for your hard work,

          Al
So, apparently it's bad for corporations to censor the internet, but just awesome if the government wants to do it.

I sent his people a nice e-mail on the matter via his website. I suggest others do the same.

I'm wondering how "nice" said email was.

              I wasn't a yelling, raging idiot, that's for sure.

It was mostly "dude, you suck, and here's why"

That's what the e-mail should say. That's everything right there.

Wonder how the inventor of the internet would feel about this. You know, Al Gore?
