I used to live in a place in Georgia where lots of deer roamed, fearless of humans. That fawn started following me one day, so I decided to act paternal by punching it. I was tired of it following me, so that black guy essentially held it down as I walked away. Apparently, he took it to his bed. True story. No, seriously.

I'd say hunting takes a lot of discipline, if Pro Buck Hunter is any indication.

And at least in real life they don't disqualify you for shooting lady animals. I assume. Do they find a way to make big red X's pop up in real life?

Deer hunting is fine. Kill more please, simple man. Deer kill us when they run in front of our vehicles.

I really am the only vegetarian on here...

Fishing doesn't bother me as much. (That's to say, reel or fly fishing and not nets!) There seems to be a kind of competitive co-evolution going on. The fish is attracted by a lure of it's own accord. It doesn't unwillingly cross paths with a bullet.

I rather like some fishing games though I doubt I'd ever participate in real life. The Reel Fishing series by Natsume is all catch and release.

I kinda snapped on Simpleman, who has generally always irritated me before, mainly because of the picture. And there are MILLIONS like it. Groups of five guys embracing around a moose, blood streaming from it's mouth. People having their 3-year-old seated on a a dead elk, acquiring who-knows-what kind of parasites.

Yeah, I know hunting serves a purpose of sorts. Keeping down populations, and preventing starvation. But human expansions and paranoia are what demolished natural predators in the first place... so it's a vicious cycle.

I'm just the kind of guy that finds animals more interesting alive than dead, I guess...
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.

your wrong there. tags only cost 17 dollars and we dont need much equipment. and we self process the meat.

Look just because i hunt doesnt mean you got to put me down. I got a right to hunt and i love every bit of it.

More like patience. Predators usually wait and ambush prey, and some hunters do the same thing, setting up blinds and stuff along game trails.

                        Re: deer hunting.

I simply don't enjoy killing things.

                        If you do, that's cool.

I mean, it's not really cool. It's kind of unnecessarily barbaric. But it's not like you're hurting anybody. Just deer.

                        Defenseless.

                        Pretty.

Why not paintballs instead? I mean, you still get to hunt the deer, and all it gets is a nice big pink bruise on the side. An' paintballs is what dem kuntry folk like doin' en-ee-way.

                          Everyone's happy!

I should have also added that killing the thing with a gun isn't really anything to be proud of either. It's like sending an animal off to the slaugherhouse, except you're doing it all yourself, which I guess is a little better than having someone else do it for you. I don't know why Simple Man decided to post it here, acting like he'd just won the Super Bowl, but I guess that's just Simple being Simple.

LOL... Valk, I thought that was Voldemort! Until I quoted you and saw the word "Powder" in the image tag...

I dunno, I've got a ton of respect for your being a vegetarian, but this seems like awfully dicey logic to me. Do you have an objection to using bait (or animal calls) to trap a rabbit under a net, and then taking an axe or rifle to it? You're tricking the fish. Then you're hooking it, yanking it out of the water, and trying to suffocate it for long enough to kill it. (Again, I don't have a huge objection to this, but just like to see a spade called a spade.) It's more sporting, but more painful, than the net. It's the equivalent of going out into the woods and killing a deer using a bow and arrow. Takes a ton of skill but still killing an animal unnecessarily.

I rather like some fishing games though I doubt I'd ever participate in real life. The Reel Fishing series by Natsume is all catch and release.
Heh, Natsume's always been like that... you can't eat any of your farm animals in Harvest Moon (though, interestingly, you CAN catch and cook fish in that game). Catch-and-release is nice, I guess... it's important to squeeze out the air from the air bladder before you throw it back or you could be killing the fish anyhow... take a look somewhere online on how to do it, if you ever decide to try it.
