    Sounds from the Underground

Some reason I've been getting into music that's not really all that popular, but whatever. Here's my playlist.

    White Stripes
    Muse
    The Shins
    Postal Service
    Rufio
    Motion City Soundtrack
    Thrice
    AFI
    No FX
Small Town Burn A Little Slower
    Coldplay
    Snow Patrol

    Here are others, more popular.

    Jimi Hendrix
    Rolling Stones
    The Strokes
    System of a Down
    Green Day
    Beck
    Audio Slave
    Alter Bridge
    Metallica
    The Game
    50 Cent
    Kayne West
    Offspring

I have a lot more... but whatever, this is what comes to mind right now. Post your flavor of music.

    Favorite bands:
    Sonic Youth
    Husker Du
    Mission of Burma
    Wire
    Buzzc0cks
    X
    Naked Raygun
    Siouxsie and the Banshees
    The Pixies

I am fed up with most mainstream rock, and fed up with most indie rock too. My only real enjoyment comes from exploratory punk/the 80's underground.

I like these bands because they are very genuine.

            Sorta popular, if not completely:
            Modest Mouse
            Coheed and Cambria
            Queens of the Stone Age
            Radiohead
            Foo Fighters
            Deftones

            Not really all that popular:
            Bright Eyes
            Criteria
            Cursive
            Rilo Kiley
            Interpol
            Shudder To Think
            Nic Armstrong and the Thieves
            Death From Above 1979

              Criteria
Cursive - not really unpopular but really good.
Rilo Kiley - love 'em. I also love how a lot of people think Rilo Kiley is one person, a girl. lololol idiots. I'm seeing them this Monday
Interpol - once again: are you a girl??
              Shudder To Think
              Nic Armstrong and the Thieves
Death From Above 1979 - don't add the 1979! people will call you a noob. they only added the 1979 to avoid a lawsuit from DFA Records. nonetheless, way rad.
yeap. I would like Bright Eyes but Conor Oberst is like the Kanye West of emo-indie-folk. and I cannot forgive Lover I Don't Have To Love, the song that launched a thousand xangas. sorry for not liking music solely manufactured for quoting in away messages.

Basically Punk and ska for me.

                        Bad Religion
                        Pennywise
NOFX << Proper way of typing their name
                        Choking Victim/Leftover Crack
                        Against All Authority
                        Streetlight Manifesto
                        INDK
                        Dropkick Murphys
Many more, that's just an Idea.

I would consider them underground, but still pretty poular for that, but some of those "underground" bands that people are listing aren't really underground at all...

I have a suspicion that this is going to turn into an "indier-than-thou" hipster snob thread, anyway, here goes...

                          Godspeed You! Black Emperor

This thread just reeks of future fights of who's cooler and who likes indier bands.

Some of you strike me as people who listen to obscure music because its cool to listen to bands that noone else has even heard of. And to me theres nothing worse than that.

Stuff most people haven't heard of that I listen to? Ok.

And I only listen to music I like. I have to like it, or it will annoy me while I draw. There is no way I would listen to something just to say "OMG I LISTEN TO THIS AND NO ONE ELSE DOES SO I AM COOL!" That's just pathetic.
