I need to slow down on my lavish spending habits (A/V geek stuff)

Just guesstimated the cost of my home theater. Not including game consoles/minidisc recorder/DVD burner, and only counting both TVs, receiver. speakers, Monster Cable speaker wire/cables/cords/connections....AND excluding the 7.1 receiver with 8 speakers I just upgraded from, I've dropped over $3000 in my setup. AND I'M STILL NOT DONE YET!!

I'd LIKE to get an HDMI splitter, but those run about $400 for one that might not even be HDMI 1.3, and at 2x2 or 1x4. More flexibility, plus HDMI 1.3 equals $600+.

I'd also like to get a dedicated amp for my two front speakers, as my receiver is pushing out 130 watts per channel (7.1), and my two fronts are 375 watt RMS.

And I just replaced my surrounds yesterday, but the center that came with them is kinda wimpy (got the package on closeout at work), so I'm probably gonna pick up a beefier center that's also on closeout.

Basically, my setup is a Pioneer receiver (top one before you get to the Elite series) that upconverts any standard def signal and outputs through HDMI, and also has an audio expander, so if you are listening to MP3s ripped at 192 kb/sec (as an example), it'll make 'em sound better. My entire speaker setup right now is Boston Acoustics, with the only exception being my second subwoofer, which is Polk Audio.

Mora will probably look at this thread, so besides the Anthem thing your dad has, what would you recommend as an amp for my two front speakers in a reasonable price range that puts out more wattage than I'm currently looking at?

Basically, the whole thing puts my setup in the high end of a midpriced setup. Or, at least, that's where I like to think it resides.

Over $3000 for everything in total? Child's play. If your FRONT SPEAKERS don't case $3000 EACH you're doing something wrong. :V

Yeah...that's why I qualified my setup as midpriced, and NOT EVEN CLOSE to high end. It's definitely not a novice/beginner's setup, but I don't have the funds to drop on something THAT extravagant.

Plus, I barely watch movies/play games/listen to music anyway, so those $3000 speakers would just be going to waste. I'm sorta easing my way into being an audiophile. With a few more additions mentioned above, I'm pretty sure this setup will suit my needs for years to come.

Yeah, right. That's what I said at last year this time. It's a trap.

You upgrade one piece of your setup, and that entails upgrading everything else that goes with it.

Boy, I'm hating you right now. I only have like $3000 to my name.

You're better off than me, then. I've got about $250.

I'm waiting on a big fattie check this month, though. Not counting my tax returns when I get around to filing them for the last two years.
