    Big Muscles!?

I'm a pretty psysically inclined person when I want to be, but there is always one thing in particular that bothers me. My muscles don't really tone up or get bigger, I workout fairly often, and the only thing I've noticed is that I can lift more, with the exception of my bench press, which has ultimately remained stale for a long time.

Could it just be my young age, where I don't have much testosterone running through my veins, or am I lifting wrong? Or, perhaps it's a genetic difference?

I was hoping I could come here and get some advice on working out, as I have faith that some of the various people here have some knowledge on weightlifting.

Because in all honesty, I want big, lean muscles. And steroids aren't exactly the alternative I'm looking for.

What's your diet like? You gotta eat a whole crapload of protein if you want to gain weight.

I don't get enough protein as I should, I've been considering drinking either protein shakes, or many many hamburgers, what do you suggest?

        It's probably an eating problem.

You need a ****load of protein AND calories. If you want to get technical and crunch the numbers, go here and find out your daily calorie useage:
        http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/berardi41.htm
I eat protein bars before and after each workout, 15g of protein in each and they taste good.

Make sure you eat MORE than you usually eat daily, and if possible try not to get crappy calories from fast food places, good lean mass is in tuna, beef, chicken, etc that isn't deep fried.

Also, make sure you increase the amount you lift in almost every workout, otherwise instead of gaining mass you will just tone what muscle you already have.

Yeah, anyone that has nice figure will tell you it's all about the high-protein, low carb. Just where most people go wrong is they do "ALL protein, NO carb", which is just silly and really gets nothing accomplished.

            Re: Big Muscles!?

I've been energetic and athletic for the last seven or so years of my life and I'm still a little mosquito man. And I'm almost 20.

Then again, that time was spent running my ass off in track with nary a change in my diet so, uh, I guess that's why I'm a stick insect.

I'm thinking of just getting someone's ass fat implanted in my chest.

My advice is to take as many steroids as you can handle and then write a book full of remorse.

Eat more protein. Simple as that. Chicken(obviously not just KFC) and tuna are your best bet.

Also you should probably look getting some Whey. It's basically powdered amino acids. You can even do your own protein smoothies with simply some Whey, strawberries, bananas, yogurt and ice.

Also you might want to look at your workout. Try doing sets of 8-12 with 50-65%.

Or you could be one of those guys who will never be swole.

                      Use a guava-banana mix. It's awesome.

I think you need to take more vitamin B which can be found in pineapples. I recommend supplimenting that with a blend of 63% aspertene and natural oils.

See? I can do it too.

                              Okay, I'll contribute.

Archer, you posted a picture of yourself a while back in a muscle shirt and you looked about 14-15. You honestly shouldn't be working out at that age. You know what happens to people who get huge muscles when they're that age? They stay 5'6'' for the rest of their life and look really demented. Just work on other things until you're old enough to really start bodybuilding (if you still want to by then). Any personal trainer will tell you the same thing.
