    Short Computer Animations

For my 3D animation class, I need to bring in an example of a brief (around 5-10 minute) computer animation that is, in some way, awesome. It could be something from a movie, TV, a video game, or pretty much anywhere, but it has to be computer animated and preferably frigging sweet.

Off the top of my head, I can't really think of anything I want to use, so I was hoping people here might have some cool ideas to post.

Edit together a montage of come of the 3d stuff from Futurama?
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I've done quite a bit of 3D animation!

Check my threads in Imaginari. In particular "Ummmm...." and "Demons!"

If it needs to be professional, ...

        Tough.

        Can't help with that.

        Sorry.

You should be able to find it at any media outlet. Combines live footage of scenery with GC modled creatures in a totaly belivable way. It's almost perfict at creating the illusion that the filmmakers actualy filmed these animals.

Plus it's super interesting and entertaining too.

You could go with Valk's suggestion, but chances are that everyone in an animation class will already be familiar with Advent Children!

There's plenty of excellent examples of modeling, rigging/animating, character design, storytelling, overall technical achievement, etc., available online:

Might be too short, but is it certainly awesome:

On second though, you can't go wrong the A Gentleman's Duel. 7 minute comedy short about two Victorian era men vying for the attention of a young lady, by fighting with giant steam powered mechs.

edit: I just noticed Ryu linked to blur without linking to this. Blasphemy.

"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."

I can point you to several free fractal generators that could have you doing fractal animation in minutes!

Then you can bring in your own cgi stuff!!

                    Here's an example:

I have quite a few fractal animations there. Just click the avatar or do a search for Rodak, Fractal, or something.

Several of those, or one long one, could be a unique submission.

Thanks everyone. I'm presenting Gopher Broke tomorrow. A Gentleman's Duel might've won out, but some dude already presented that a couple weeks back.
