    Re: Michael Vick predictions?

But do you really think he'll accept not playing quaterback in the NFL? I figure he'll walk away before playing in a league he'd consider beneath him.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I think he'll realize that his only option coming back would be to start as a backup. I doubt any NFL team will sign him after being out of the league for years to be a starting quarterback.

Plus, I have a feeling that by that point he may be feeling the financial crunch. As I said earlier, I expect the Falcons to try to recover some of his signing bonus. He's also accustomed to a lifestyle that his new financial situation may not support for long.

I guess I don't understand why this particular football player is getting all this attention.

I don't even know what team he was on.

        :/

This particular football player is getting attention because he was, at one time, arguably the most popular player in the league. His jersey was #2 in sales for a LONG time, his stats in Madden were ridiculous, and his style was kind of unique.

I don't see him as ever landing a starting quarterback position in the league ever again.
I'd put Vick in the top third of NFL QBs. The amount of talent he has is amazing--the Falcons just never utilized him properly. If he can re-enter the league I bet he could win a starter's job. 1-2 years in jail is a lot of time to work out.

Yeah, they kept him at quarterback.

Not really. What I meant was they tried to help him out with good recievers and halfbacks, which he doesn't need. Vick is talented enough to get you probably two TDs with a mediocore offensive cast if you give him good field posistion. The falcons should've built a good D and then let Vick use his tricks to pull out a win in low scoring games.

Not only was he one of, if not the most, popular players in the league he was also the face of the league and one of it's most marketed stars. He was the NFL's Kobe.

Another reason is that the dogfighting angle makes everyone thump their chests about how horrible it is. I don't want to downplay it but I'm surprised they haven't given him the triple-name serial killer treatment the way everyone on ESPN has pulled out the soap box. And lastly it is really a big deal that such a high profile athlete is going to jail. It's a very surreal thing.

Also the key issue to how long he's suspended from the NFL is his involvement with the gambling aspect of the dogfighting. Don't kid yourself that's the real issue the NFL cares about.

The problem with that is what happens when he gets hurt? Look at what happened when he broke his leg and what the team is having to deal with now that he's gone. I'll give you the fact that the NFL still doesn't know what to do with a running quaterback, and the "west coast offense" is hard enough for most quarterbacks to execute, but you can't put it all on one guy and have that guy take the kind of punishment that Vick would take. Besides there have been teams that completely shut Vick down(I believe it was Tampa that routinely did) and that would be even easier without the threat of a passing game.

If all you needed was the homerun to win Barry Bonds would have multiple rings.

Personally, I think Vick's problem was that he was too inclined to run, and his arm hadn't developed the way it should. As the years went on, increasingly defenses began to guard the run far more than the pass, and his arm couldn't keep up with his legs.

Except Kobe got exonerated. Then again Kobe was smarter. Did you know that Vick didn't retain counsel until the NFL basically told him that he had to get a lawyer, like yesterday, and actually went and found one for him? Apparently Vick never thought that these charges would actually become anything.
