Welcome to Thanatyr: Dreamers Awake!

This readme is intended to provide some quick information on the game, its characters
and so forth. Sort of an abridged instruction manual (really - it's short!). If you're
looking for help on how to get started from a technical standpoint (PSV files? What's a
DexDrive?) please see the corresponding links toward the end.

Main Character Paths
--------------------

Shortly after the title screen you'll be presented with three people standing silently
amid a crashing thunderstorm. These are the main characters, each of whom has his own
path through Thanatyr:

1. Grey: "A wanderer seeking the meaning of his existence…" Skilled with swords,
rapiers, axes and Wanderer Koans, intuitive truths capable of transforming reality.

2. Rigel: "A young boy orphaned on a distant asteroid…" Uses swords, guns and Astral
Concordance, a form of magic concerned with cosmic forces.

3. Hiro: "A celebrated general, devoted to his liege…" Wields katana and Sword Arts,
blade-focused martial techniques.

Supporting Characters
---------------------

Otherwise known as "red shirts":

Una: A faerie journeying between worlds.
Virgil the Wanderer: Grey's human mentor. Guides him along the Road Within.
Nimbus: A radiance elemental. Rigel's loyal pet.
Zero: A "failed" attempt at android construction by Dr. Hauschka.
Lady Arashi: A mysterious noblewoman from Nitori.
Iai: An assassin hired by the Ran Empire.

A Word About Dragons
--------------------

Dragons appear occasionally in each storyline and are vastly more powerful than most
opponents the characters face. Each battle with a dragon lasts exactly 7 rounds, after
which time the beast will withdraw to pursue less difficult game. Defeating these
creatures is not essential (though surviving their onslaught is). Great rewards await
those capable of felling a dragon in the time allotted!

Tech Support
------------

First you'll need the venerable PSX game RPG Maker, either the disc itself or a
shareware version - shhh!

*How to run the .psv files on a PS3 or PSP: http://www.rpgmpavilion.com/index.php?page=rpgmps3

*How to run the .gme files on a PSX or PS2 via DexDrive: First you'll need to procure a
DexDrive (peripheral drive for PSX memory cards) from eBay or your nearest junkyard,
then download this software: http://www.neillcorlett.com/dexter/ (Note: If your computer
doesn't have a serial port you'll also need a usb-to-serial adapter as the DexDrive
requires a serial port connection.) Use Dexter to transfer the .gme files onto two blank
memory cards, connect those cards to your system and voila, homemade RPG goodness!

Thanks again and I hope you enjoy your experience with this demo.
