    Escape Velocity?

    Anyone play this? It's a great space shooter/adventure game by ambrosia. It's one of the few games they make for windows, and you can download a free 30 day trial on their website: Ambrosia.com/games

    Basically you play as a space pilot who buys a ship and has to make a name for himself. You start off in the federation, but depending on your actions you can join with any of the other factions. It's pretty addictive because of all the stuff you can do.

    I played this game before I ever got into PC games. It is pretty nice. The amount of ships and customization, where you can go and what you can do, and commanding a fleet is fun.

          Revival!
          For I have some screenshots I wish to share.

          First off, I was terrorizing Sol like I usually do, and since I have like 15 marine platoons, I had gotten a couple carriers, a destroyer, and something else. I got them all in the same run, so when I landed and sold them, I got a pretty huge sum.

            I just recently replayed the whole game as Vell-os. Gotta love Vell-os. Javelin + Autumn Petal + Winter Tempest is truly a force not be be rekoned with.

            Although the ship kind of sucks for massive fleet battles, I usually just jump into the system with the fleet I need to wipe, and imediatly fly away, thining out the ships as the smaller, faster ships fly at me, while the larger, slower ships lag behind near the center of the sytem. This way, once I get the fleet reasonably thinned out, I turn around and take out all the pesky fighters and return to the center to deal with the capitol ships. Normally the whole procedure takes about 2-3 minutes and tah-dah, fleet gone.

              I wished that worked for taking over planets. But they don't send all 100+ out at once, so the thinning out strategy doesn't work so well.
              Although it IS fun when 40 multi-torpedos can take out 40 enemies.
