I wonder which version of MMX3 they'll use, PS/Saturn, or SNES? hopefully both! I love the remixed music of the PS/Saturn versions.

I wonder if they'd consider renaming Megaman X5 to "We're Sorry." and X6 to "Oh, god... "

I havent beaten rockboard, a board game title for the famicom. I also havent beaten rockman and forte for the wonderswan. it's just too horrible to play for any length of time.

I still prefer the original series. Still, X was damn good until X5. X5 was pretty crappy, X6 was hideous, and someone deserves to be flogged for X7. I still have yet to play X8.

MMX7 = worst in the series.
MMX1-4 were the best.

Hopefully they'll include some secksy remixes of old MMX songs, like what they did with the Anniversary edition.

X4 is probably the best MMX game ever.

X8 ranks up there pretty damn high too. despite being polygonal, all but 2 of it's stages are sidescrollers. it plays great, and has great voice acting. personally, its my second favorite, behind X4.

Hey Valk, what's so bad about the WonderSwan version of Rockman and Forte anyway? How is it so radicaly different from the other versions?

Since I was unable to beat the first three MMX games when I was younger, along with the fact that I cannot locate their carts anymore, this is truly a l33t opertunity for me to "Feed the Queen", so to speak.

Personally, my favorite MMX games are X1, X2 and X8 (in no particular order), whereas my least favorite MMX game was (big surprise) X7. It's not that I hate it, it's just that I was a bit disappointed.

And for some reason, I enjoyed X5 and X6.

you see, the wonderswan has 3 button groups, all resembling a PS D-pad, 4 triangular buttons.

normal setup is like a gameboy advance. above the action buttons though, there's another group of buttons. when the system is turned on it's side, the normal action buttons function as the D pad, and the other set of buttons becomes the action button set. the former D pad turns useless.

this allows the wonderswan to function as a widescreen system, or a tall screen (ideal for overhead shooters)

in rockman and forte, some stages require you to play in the tall screen format. it's a bit confusing, switching types between stages.

X1... was great, soley for acquiring Hadoken. "Duuuude! You totally ROCK!" :lol

X3 had my favorite charge-up shot.

X4 was Zero's crowning moment. You could combo his moves forever and feel like a total badass. And don't forget... NOVA ARMOR. *fapfapfapfap*

X6 had the badass ninja armor, if nothing else.

capcom has always called it the Ultimate Armor.

I like X2's powered shot best, because he basically throws the second blast with his hand. and you can get the shoryuken!

X3's special gold armor was pretty damn cool too.

X4 was the best Megaman game in existance to me. I don't see what was so horrible about X5 and X6. They weren't masterpieces or anything but they weren't THAT bad. The only problem I have with X5 and X6 is that they aren't X4.

X5 and X6 had such horrible animation, the boss graphics were ameture efforts at best, the bosses had no personality at all, and they were almost completely silent.

they just didnt seem alive.

Look at the way Burn Dinorex (thats the japanese name, I will not call him by his GnR name) behaves, sounds, moves, and compare it to Magma Dragoon. you'll see what I mean.

X5 was supposed to be the end of the series. last X game Keiji Inafune worked on. everything was lined up for a GREAT ending, and a solid transition to MMZ. then capcom let X6 get created, which really doesnt make any sense at all. zero claims that he, a one-armed upper body only, repaired himself out in the desert, where there's nothing he could use to repair himself. they wanted zero back so much that they just didnt care about the series making sense.

Awesome! This is the first i've heard of the megaman x collection. I will definately be picking this up, X is probably my favorite series in megaman. I agree with you all on it being pretty much downhill from X5 on though. Although X8 was a pleasant surprise. Anyway, Im really interested in what Valk said about X5 was planned to be the end. That would have made a lot more sense, and I kind of wish they would have just gone with the original plan. Im also dissapointed to learn that some of the masterminds behind megaman are no longer working on the series. I love megaman, and I would like to know as much about it as possible. Valk, you should let me know if you have any useful links or if you just wanna have a chat about megaman sometime, my aim name is salsashark23.
