Silent Hill 5 is coming

According to the UK OPM magazine, Silent Hill 5 is indeed coming, and apparently it will be similar to Silent Hill 2 in gameplay. The atmosphere and direction will also resemble the second installment, with the focus on psychological horror, letting your mind do the work. The better way that is, folks. No word on a platform, but both consoles is probably a safe bet.

I aprciate psychological horror but similar gameplay? First of all, don't all the Silent Hill games feature similar gameplay or was 2's runing and plank swinging all that unique? Second, you think a next gen game would want to invovate in the gameplay department just a little bit.

It's not like when people remenise about 2 it's the gameplay they fondly recall.

I would hope that it would follow the SH PSP game and copy the RE4 gameplay formula.

I'll be there. And I didn't mind SH2's combat when compared with SH1's controls. At least James can aim a ****ing gun. :P

I would suggest that they combine elements of the combat/controls from 3&4. I'm glad they're sticking with the moodiness of 2, which is my favorite despite its flaws.

I think the plot of the next game should involve me entering Silent Hill to attend the Silent Hill movie premiere and thank Roger Avary in person. I'm really excited upon arrival but as I watch the flick it turns out something is horribly wrong with it. With no other option I search for Roger through the ghost town but instead I meet Rogeria, a sexy, elegant and well-spoken screenwriter who seduces me.

However, Pyramid Head chases us down and repeatedly skewers Rogeria in front of my very eyes and I'm helpless to do anything about it! I wallow in guilt and remorse.

The game ends when Rogeria is revealed to be my own naive desires made manifest in a talented, capable filmmaker and Pyramid Head is really the part of me that should be as critical as possible, stabbing every last glimmer of hope in sight. The last boss is an incarnation of my own impossible hype.

In the epilogue I drive my car into Toluca Lake out of despair because I looked at the Silent Hill DVD too often.

I just hope it's not that whole "serial killer is on a couch and talks about Silent Hill to a psych" that they were saying about a year ago.

I want this to answer questions...but at the same time not be as..uh...literal? As SH3 was.
