    ****ING INTERNET EXPLORER 7.

    Overall, I like IE7. I like it a lot.

but about an hour ago, it started opening several tabs once in a while when I go to some pages. doesnt make sense? okay, here's an example.

I tried viewing a toy gallery at seibertron.com, and when I clicked the gallery link, 7 new tabs opened automatically, all showing random links from the page.

somethingawful.com earlier opened up about 12 random links from their comedy goldmine directory.

no spyware or viruses are on my computer.

any idea how I can fix this? it's only happened a few times, but it is annoying.

My mother just got IE7 and she doesn't have that problem at all.

Are you sure you don't have spyware on your comp?

I dont have IE7, but see if you can go into

        Tools->Internet Options->Privacy

        click on the "Advanced" button

        check "Override Automatic Cookie Handling"

        "Accept" First Party Cookies

        "Block" Third Party Cookies

        check "Always Allow Session Cookies"

Very very few sites run off of 3rd party cookies, Ive had it this way for nearly 2 years and never came across one, also I have very few popups now because 3rd party cookies are disabled, this may fix your problem if IE7 has this option

It just sounds like a spyware. It could be a virus too. I had something that wasn't showing up on any of my softward but was causing IE to spawn multiple pop up ads. Even when I wasn't using IE they would just show up. When I'd wake up thered be dozens off them that had shown up at night.

So I switched to Firefox and now everything's grand. I can't see going back to IE, especially with the new update that autotabs new links and runs spellchecker in anything I type here.

Yeah, the solution is simple. Use Firefox.

I was very skeptical about using Firefox at first, I always claimed to always be IE faithful, after a few nights of IE acting up I downloaded Firefox...best thing I've ever done for my computer

Oh Firefox why didnt I download you a long time ago....it hurts to know I can never make up that lost time with you....all those years of IE problems and you were right there for me but I never payed you no mind....oh the humanity.

I've had that happen sometimes too. It seems to be site specific.

I refuse to use firefox just because of the holier-than-thou mentality it's users have.

Doesn't IE users have the same about IE though? If not you'd be using Firefox by now

I used IE at first on my PC downstairs. Got lots of viruses.

Currently on my new Laptop, I've used only Firefox and my virus and adware stuff have found no adware or spyware so far, and I've had this thing about 3-4 months now.

I'm for the same reason. I've never heard "Firefox sucks" except as a response from me when someone's telling me to use it.

I don't like it. It's kinda like netscape, which I absolutely hated. IE is reliable and works with everything.

                            I remember the Netscape days.

I've never pushed Firefox. I suggest it because I've grown accustomed to it and I like it.

I still use IE at work though. I just think if you're having problems with IE and spyware you should try out Firefox. I've never had problems and can count the pop-ups I've gotten on one hand.

I'd say not liking Firefox because its users are pretentious is silly but I'm the same way with my friend and his mac.

I only got Firefox because deviantART works best with it (or at least that seemed to be the case after their upgrade). It also appears to be better with Wiki software, judging by responses I've received regarding my EVIL page at the Mag's Wiki. I use it for the rest of my internet surfing, but that's party because I don't want to bother using two separate internet browsers. Other than a few cases of better performance at various web sites, I really don't see much difference between the browsers.

(While I'm at it, I might as well admit I also like Firefox because of the fox aspect.)
