As some of us know, Koei has been kind of going on a sports-game frenzy with the Dynasty Warriors series, in the style of popping out a new game every year. They add three characters and bring in $10 Million.
I just got it about 6 hours ago. I played it for 50 minutes, took a long nap, and then I just beat Ling Tong's musou.
And damn it's actually a huge improvement, like an actual sequel
The framerate doubled, and there's no slowdown whatsoever now.
Six more characters, an entirely new bodyguard system..and it's like DW3, not 4. Which brings a tear to my eye. A tear of happiness.
They also added some other fighting features. There's a lot more variation in the characters now, so whereas DW 3/4 might have been like Tobal 1 in a mass war strategy-setting, 5 is like Tekken 3 in a mass war strategy-setting. Each character has unique jump charges(thank god) and the third, fourth, and fifth(some refer to them as fourth, fifth, and sixth(sssc, ssssc, sssssc) have been redone.
Every character has their own musuo this time, along with a unique ending. And tigers have been added to the game(also availabe as an ally with an item).
Also, some weird weapon thing was added. The weapons you find(yeah, it's like DW3 there) may randomly have this little swirly thing next to the name. This basically allows nine normal-hit combos, though there are no more charges. So no, there's no ccccccs, but there's ccccccccc.
And Evolution has been added, which is basically a rare adrenaline rush that you obtain with a rarely dropped item(meat bun type item, not equippable type item). Your attack and speed go crazy and you can do a true musuo regardless of life.
And in every battle I've been in so far, I've done more than 10 bi-combos with my bodyguard(Yep, you can musuo with them) each time. It's quite fun.
Koei still hasn't launched off of their lazyasses, but damnit, they did enough this time. Unlike the last three times that I wasted money(4, expack, empires).
