Official Holiday Gift Suggestion Thread (Unofficially)

It is around that time of year again when many will go on a crazy shopping spree. So many games are coming into stores, but which are worth the 50 bucks or so? Nothing sucks more than spending that money on a new game that isn't worth the plastic it is covered in. Help out your fellow pavilionites by letting them know about what is worth all of that paper and what's good about it, along with the crap you regret. Not everyone has the money to make such expensive mistakes.

Possibly use more than one word.

        Example: Rule of Rose

While it has a very unique and well put together story, the gameplay can be quite tedious. Damage detection is horrible, often in between attacks your weapon passes right through the enemy without doing any damage. Sometimes you can even get hurt from an attack that doesn't even touch you. While I think the story is good enough to give the game a try, it isn't worth $50. Unless you have lots of cash, I would suggest not getting the game for now.

        Something kind of like that.

          Tales of the Abyss -

My pick as the best Tales game yet. Great character developement, neat character designs (although some like the main character's mid-drift are questionable.)

The battle system is quite good and far better than Tales of Legendia. The town and dungeons are very beautifully done, but the world map is rather crude and long on loading times.

The price is very good. ($39.99)

I defintally suggest it if you are Tales fan or just like a good, decent rpg.

Suikoden Tactics! Going for, like, 10-15 dollars, and it will give you dozens of hours of gametime! (Although some will be spent repeating a mission because one of your characters permenantly died.)

Hmm... this thread is pretty dead.
              Live, damn you! LIVE!!!

Well, now that the next gen consoles are out, surely there are some games worth giving a shot. Anyone find anything good?

                Excite Truck -

Wide range of reviews, but all in all it's probably got a 8/10 in my book. It's NOT a console racer, it's an ARCADE racer. But it's fun as hell. Takes some getting used to, but once you get accustomed to the controls it's great.

                Zelda Twilight Princess -

If you need a reason, then you need to be shot.
                Keep the change.

What I'm hoping for is Need for Speed: Carbon. It's gotten several great reviews, and sounds like an A+ for me.

Other than that, Wii with TP is the ultimate gift. (As if I was getting a Wii for Christmas... )

                    Okami
                    FF12

That's about it for PS2 games from me.

One game I would suggest is Devil Summoner for the PS2. It is a twist from the rest of the Shin Megami Tensei series. You hack and slash in real time rather than the traditional turn based combat. Plus, having the right demon on your side can be quite the difference maker. The only down side to the game is that battles can get repetitive and the AI isn't too smart (constantly doing an attack that heals the enemy isn't exactly the smartest thing to do.) It should be a nice gift.... though, kinda sacreligious.

LOL GO SUMMON DEMONS FOR CHRISTMAS!!! LOL

                      But why....

How is the combat in the game? I've been dying to know. It looks so sweet.
