    RM3 Game Designers: A REQUEST

This is just a suggestion, of course...but could people who have games or demos uploaded here please specify which of the three data slots the game is on? It really makes it convenient (ok, possible) to plan where everything's going to go on your memory card.

For instance, today I loaded up Series 1 onto my MAX drive. I can't tell what slot the data is on from the filename, so I have to load up my PS2 browser, look at my card, delete what's in slot 1 (oh yeah, that's AFTER I've looked at it in RM3, and made sure I could get rid of what was in slot 1). Then I move the MAX drive to the PS2...and in THAT browser I can see that it's in slot 2.

Ok...back to RM3, load up what's in slot 2 (and pray you don't have save data there), copy it into slot 1. Now, back to the PS2 browser...delete data 2. Now, back to the MAX disk, move Series 1 to the mem card.

See what I mean? If I had known what slot Series 1 was in, I could have planned its movement better. Don't get me wrong...submitting data in slots 2 and 3 is a good thing, because it can make things even easier...but the trick is for us, the downloaders, to know what slot it's in.

Like I said, just a suggestion

Renaming MAX files is great idea...but maybe leave the part at the end that says 'DATA 2'...or maybe include it in your game description?

Great suggestion. I was thinkin' about this a while back, but I'm not one to make general suggestions. I had so many hassles just trying to play like 3 different games here. They all were for the same damn slots. Anyways, Duder is slot #3.

Anyways, I second the motion. This would save everyone who downloads rpgm3 games a lot of time.

But, actually, I now have a way around it. It just takes 2 mem cards. Whenever you want to download a game from here. Transfer it onto a mem card that has NO rpgm games on it. It doesn't matter which file (1, 2 or 3) it is. Then load the game in RPGM3, switch your memory cards, and you can pick which file (1, 2, or 3) to save it over. This is the best way to do it, but it does takes two mem cards.

we tried this when I first took over. we asked that every game submitted be in slot 3. no one ever listened to us, so we took that guideline down.

I'll be sure to do that from now on, as I was having the same problem putting A Remedy demo, Raiders of Lekunder and Duder and the Mage all on one card. Because of this expensive hobby (making games), I've needed to buy six memory cards. I guess after I make a game, I could delete it off a card and store it on the max drive, but I like to have "hard copies" of each game on memory cards, just in case. I'm using one memory card exclusively for games I download, one card has my first "learning experince" game and Series 1, one card has Series 2 and room for another game or two, one has Series 3 and A Series Aside, one has Series 4 Episode 1 full game and teaser, with room for either Episode 3 or the prequel, and the last one is blank now but will be used for Episode 2 and its teaser, and either Episode 3 or the prequel, whichever does not get put on the previously mentioned card. So yeah, as I envision Series 4, it'll take 2 whole memory cards to store all the games. I know this is kind of off-topic, but I thought I'd share. Believe me, I'll put a memory card slot listing on my future games.

Wow that's a lot of memory cards. Since I don't have a max drive or anything like it(they don't sell any over here ever.) I have no means of downloading games made by other people. That makes me feel kinda depressed. I have the PS3 right now and RPGM3 and RPGM2 work perfectly on the PS3. Now If I could only find a way to convert max drive files to ps2 saves for the ps3 I would be set. And with the ability to create various internal memory cards on the hard drive I could create as many as my 60gb hard disk can handle. If anyone finds some way to convert the max drive or other to ps2 saved file for the ps3 pm me.

Btw. This has been written live from the PS3's internet browser.

I'll actually be converting every game on the site to the virtual memory card format as soon as I get a PS3.

where are you, that they don't sell max drives anyways?

I would really apreciate that Valkysas. When you get your own ps3 be sure to add me to your playstation network platform friend list. My username on pnp is Excelryu. And about where I live. I live in Puerto Rico and I've tried calling every single electronics boutique and gamestop. Well virtual memory card files are a ease to transfer with the ps3. All you need is a external device like a flash drive or a memory stick and you can easily distribute it. Also I would like to ask you Valkysas. Do you believe there will be a rpg maker for PS3?With the capabilities of the PS3 I cannot even imagine what could be possible. Better graphics, a lot of space because of the blu ray format, use of the disk drive, microtransactions of new character models, etc via the pnp. Ahhh what a awesome rpg maker that would be.

It may still be a few months until I get my PS3, but I may be able to get someone else at the pavilion to help me with the project.

I honestly can't see the next RPG Maker being on the PS3 (enterbrain recently publicly bashed sony and the PS3), but I wouldnt rule it out.

I actually get a lot of inside info from agetec and enterbrain about the RPG Maker series, so you should keep an eye on the pavilion front page from time to time, since thats where new RPG Maker news usually shows up first on the internet.

Thanks Valkysas. I'll be sure to keep an eye on the pavilion. And also keeping my eye on any announcements about the internal memory cards.

                      microtransactions of new character models
That would not be a good thing.
