    RM2 Noob: MagusMartovich

Uh, I'll be ehre a lot with a bunch of pretty basic questions as I just got RM2. I wanted to let everybody know. Here's my first question:

Do you have to use the preset models for making your own critters (as either monsters or NPCs or heroes)? I'm really just playing around with the program and getting familiar with it right now, so I may have just missed something, but I figured I'd ask now in case in a week I still can't get it...

I'm glad to be joining the elite (RPGMaker 2 Owners) and I hope you'll be glad to have me!

Okay, the simple answer is yes. You have to use the preset models. Although, you can change their colors. However, the less simple answer is no. With clever use of the VFX editor, one can make effects that can take the place of enemy/character models. If you want to see some things that the VFX editor can do, I suggest you go to this topic.

OMFG! WOW!!! Okay, so then the "real" answer is no, right? I can basically make anything at all that I could want with the VFX Editor, and then I can use whatever I made in the game, correct? Totally cool!

Yup. Mind you, there are some more tricks you'll have to learn to make VFX characters flow normally, but right now, I suggest just experimenting with making them.

I own RM 1 & 3 already, and 3 finally gave me a Lizardman, and 2 doesn't have it (d'oh!) but with the VFX I can make my own, and that'll be cool! I understand that you have to tweak some things to make your characters move the right way (walking and whatnot) but as long as I can get a decent model the way I want it I can fool around with that later. Well, I think I can anyway...

-What does CSM mean? Like I understand RTB/RTS(real time battle / real time strategy) but this one's got me lost.

While manji's talking about CMSs, I might as well tell you that CBS means "custom battle system" and CCS is "custom camera system." Although, you're not likely to hear about CCSs, since I only know of one person to use a CCS and describe it as such.

I used one. Although the game wasn't finished, and it was more or less added onto the default system. I added button inputs for high and low camera angles as well as a stop-and-look (first-person) view. It was fully functional.

Okay, cool! Now I'm up on my "Tech Speak"! TY!

                    Okay, I'm : "editing" so I don't double post...

-Is their anything wrong with having a character (made with the VFX) that doesn't snych correctly (walking) if it flies? Well, floats? I made a "superman" (kinda) and his cape waves, but he doesn't match up to the other characters...

-How do I get make the character clear that I want to apply effects to? (I think it looks funny with some kid walking around with superman on his head)
