it's so crazy, it probably won't work (global warming)

Scientists: Pollution could combat global warming
Prominent scientists, among them a Nobel laureate, said a layer of pollution deliberately spewed into the atmosphere could act as a "shade" from the sun's rays and help cool the planet.
Sweet, all we need to do is pump more chemicals into the air and make our own layer of the atmosphere to replace the one that dwindles more every day. Then we'll have some nice UV and heat protection from the sun. All we'll have to worry about is EPIDEMICS OF LUNG CANCER and DAILY ACID RAIN.
    not a bad tradeoff.
what are your thoughts on this and global warming?

I mean why didn't we think of this before, just double the greenhouse effect.

It's just so simple and brilliant, just keep doing what we're already doing and things will be magically ok.

So yeah, while I'm not sure whether global warming is our fault, or a normal cyclic event like ice ages (since recorded history doesn't cover but a small portion of the age of the earth), pretty confident pollution is bad. For the reasons you stated and just because it's obviously not natural, and you know toxic.

I somehow have a feeling some lobbyists had something to do with this 'research'.

      Global warming Propaganda warning!

      http://www.cei.org/pages/co2.cfm

"carbon dioxide, they call it pollution, we call it life."

      What a load of bull

edit: I just watched the third one as well (the al gore, plane one) and I find it ridiculous how they contradict themselves with these ads. They first say CO2 is harmless, then they say Gore is wrong for releasing CO2 as plane fuel combustion.

I read somewhere that global warming will eventually fix itself. Ice Caps will melt, releasing more water into the oceans which will cause more vegetation to grow which will cause more co2 to be removed from the athmosephere which will lower the green house effect.

So basically it'll take care of itself if we just stop screwing with the natural balance.

Except that about 60% (I think that's right, it might be higher) of the human population is living in areas that would be inundated. The world and life will keep on going sure, but with a significant chunk of us wiped out and the rest struggling to adapt to a worldwide calamity.

We could also stop cutting down forests and grossly polluting the oceans so the natural vegetation could return to more sustainable levels. It'd bypass the whole catastrophe and all, but I DID just buy a car and gas is pretty cheap...it's a hard trade-off.
So you're a fish out of water...
          Keep swimming.
          What else can you do?

No, they consider it a last resort, and a possible way to buy us time to stop our over usage of fossil fuels. Not a solution to the problem.

It's not going to happen overnight.

Let's all move a mile above sea level and prepare for it.

Or buy boat homes a la Noah's Ark.
                ...and that's why.

Oh yes it will. Haven't you seen the day after tomorrow? It'll be like that.
                  Probably worse.

As long as Im not one of the people taken out, Im all for a massive natural disaster that wipes out half the population.
