Micro Center is offering up a $100 mail-in rebate for Xbox 360 (Premium or Core) purchases. The catch, your 'box can only be copped in-store (not online) between November 12 (last Sunday) and December 3. It's also worth noting that the rebate could take up to 3 months to process. Still, for those of you in the gift-giving business, this is a bargain not to be missed.

I live on the peninsula (near SF) now, so Santa Clara (one of the sacred 19 locations) isn't all that far from me. This looks promising.

Woo, I just went to the Minnesota store and picked one up. Got a 2nd controller, Gears of War, and Dead Rising. I haven't played it yet, but I'm freaking pumped to.

Any other game/accessory suggestions?

I also played the Wii at the store for the first time (Wii Bowling), but the batteries in the controller were about dead, so it was incredibly frustrating.

Eh, I guess I could drive to Houston. I'll be hoping to get the Amazon deal instead though, as unrealistic as that is.

not at all. the store is running this, not microsoft.

and dissapointed PS3/Wii shoppers who can't find the system are all getting 360s, and thus the system is selling better now than it has in the past months.

Oh I thought it was a microsoft sponsored thing, didnt think just 19 stores would hold the same rebates on the same dates

And thats a good point about the sales thing, I didnt think of that either

I don't think it's 19 random stores, it's one store that has 19 different locations nationwide.

And yeah, put me down as a would-be Wii owner who opted for the 360 instead. I'll probably get both eventually, but my parents have a high-def TV, so between that, Gears of War, the Wii shortage, and the $100 rebate, I was sold on the 360.
