Games you've totally given up on

For its gotta be Viewtiful Joe, DMC3, and Front Misison 4.

In Joe, I got up to Fire Leo, I think thats his name, and he wallops my ass everytime. I once got him down to about a quarter of his health left, and he got me. I come back every couple of weeks and give it a go, but nothing. I still love the style, and how fun the game is though.

In DMC3, Im pretty sure its the last fight with Virgil at the end, and I almost never get a chance to even lay a finger on the guy. When I do take off alot of his health, mainly by using nonstop items that increase my devil trigger gauge, he goes devil trigger, and heals back all his life, and kicks my ass even more. I come back every now and then, only to get my ass handed to me. Still love the game though.

In FM4, I got to a point in the game where abttle take around 2-3 hours(for me anyway), my team misses half their shots at point blank range, and I am constantly swarmed by missles from the other side of the map becasue they have a couple Wanzers with the missile assisting backpack on. It was just ridiculous. I was like "YOUR SO CLOSE YOU COULD PUNCH THE GUY, AND YOU MISS! JESUS DAMN CHRIST!". I gave up on it, and I havent touched it in months. The story had its moments but it was pretty boring most of the time.

    Blargh.

Almost every Shin Megami Tensei game.

I don't know why, I really liked the series, but most of the games just got really confusing and became the type of game where 'If you don't upgrade your character like this you won't get past this part' Which I don't like because I like games where you can beat the game no matter how you play it.

I have given up on the second .hack, since it just felt too much like the first one for me to care.

                Yeah, FFXI.

Oh yeah, me too. I sucked at FFXI. Plus, I didn't want to pay $14 a month for a game I'm never going to improve on.

Same with World of Warcraft. Thought it was a better experience for me, but it turns out I sucked just as bad in Azeroth as I did in Vana'diel. Plus, I had a friend of mine who played, too--unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to party together. Thus, I cancelled my account just two weeks ago.

Not complaining though.....I had a fairly good time with both games when I played. They just weren't my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It's when I realized that PSO and PSU were my true playgrounds. Those games....now I'm good at those.
Despite what you think, I am very, very real.

Kire, you missed nothing with Dragon Quest VIII. The game starts out well then turns into a levelling up crusade. But, d2king, you definately missed out with the chronos.

Anyways, I give up on games purely out of boredom. I have a sort of value table for gameplay, and when I get to that point where I feel like I'm playing a game only to beat it, I put the game aside. I have a long list, since I have only so much time for gaming.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Clock Tower 3. Silent Hill 3. Resident Evil Zero. Resident Evil three. Baten Kaitos: eternal.... Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.

Oh, the worst ever is Paper Mario on the GC. I got to the last boss and died on him twice. The fight wasn't super hard, just random, and he caught me off guard twice. But to redo the battle, you have to watch, seriously, a 10 minute boring as hell cutscene, with all your friends from every level in the game cheering you on. I just couldn't sit through it a third time.

And Mega Man 1. It's happened a few times (after rebeating 2 and 3 for the zillionth time) that I put it in and say, "this is the time I finally play it through," but I always get frustrated by the third level or so.
My kind of life’s no better off
If I’ve got the map or if I’m lost.

Im not sure you could say i missed out, it was just really boring to me. Maybe its because i think Secret of Mana is superior to it in every way, and after playing that, Chrono seemed blah.

Just how far into Trigger did you play?
Oh, the worst ever is Paper Mario on the GC. I got to the last boss and died on him twice. The fight wasn't super hard, just random, and he caught me off guard twice. Yeah, the cutscene's annoyingly long. I forget the exact strategy I used to win, but let's see... I started off with Supernova, since you're guarenteed a triple-shine slot that refills all your stats after a couple hits. I think I used the fire-user's attack to keep the final boss on fire. I also used Mario's most powerful jump. When she was charging up for her final attack, naturally I used that shade move to avoid it. If her two large hands pop up, I use whatever move I have at my disposal that can off them in one hit. If she's got all those smaller hands, I don't worry about those, since they can't heal her. Having enough Honey items and Mushrooms is a must, and I also was wearing some badges that increased my characters' attacks. The fight's a long one, though. She's got 150 HP (which, for those of you who have never played the Paper Mario games, is quite a bit of HP).

As for myself, I've probably given up on Final Fantasy Legend II. I really don't like not knowing what equipping certain things is going to do with my attack and abilities. I'd like to get it if it's ever remade, though.
"What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

                            YEP, ME TOO!

The first time I stopped playing Persona 2, I'm almost certain it was because of a game glitch. I got to the TV station, where you're supposed to go through certain doors in a certain order - I tried EVERY ORDER. They'd even be like, "Well, I guess this door is next," and then I'd go through it and nothing would happen.
The second time I stopped playing it... I just stopped. I don't remember if there was a reason outside of my refusual to deal with stupid dungeons.

I stopped playing Xenosaga at the Song of Nephilim. I was too busy playing poker, I think I forgot how to actually make my characters do anything useful, like level up more quickly. So every time I got into a battle it would be DESTRUCTION RAINS FROM THE HEAVENS and I'd die. Conceivably, I could have plowed through by using all of my items, but I didn't really give a ****.

I never beat Resident Evil Nemesis. I was just like, "Why don't I play Resident Evil 2 instead?"

And I've never beaten Dynamite Headdy without the level select cheat.

You didn't miss out on anything there. I'll take the first one over the other two any day.

Final Fantasy VII and up: I used to love FF. Then I got tired of them. I'm playing through FFVIII again. I'm farther than ever before (Almost halfway through). FFX I think ruined the series for me, though. It's kind of like the seven dwarves: dopey, whiney, perky, gothy, quiet, timid, and grim.

I almost gave up on Ace Combat Zero. It has to be the toughest final battle in any flight sim. It was worth it, though.
