Nintendo has failed me (Mario-related topic)

I hated Super Mario 64. I liked Sunshine a bit better, it was a good game, but not a good Mario game.

So I finally bought New Super Mario Bros. (I've been unemployed since it came out) thinking "finally, I can play a good Mario game again".

    ****ING WRONG.

The game plays fine. But it's rediculously easy and short. Where are all the cool moments Super Mario Bros. 3 had? The size, flow, and overall fun of Super Mario World? The levels arent memorable at all, and they're done with in a flash. The last boss fight? pathetic! Super Mario World's final boss was so much better.

This is the first time I have ever felt cheated by a nintendo game. You go into a Mario game expecting a certain amount of quality and fun, and neither is in this game. I'm just looking at this damn box, trying to understand how this was worth $35. I beat it in just under 2 days. Super Mario World took me weeks to uncover everything.

Nintendo just doesnt know how to make a good Mario game anymore.

    End rant.

I think Dave hated that one, too.

We still argue about which mario game is the best. I say Mario World and he says Mario 3. I asked him if he ever got 100% on SMW and he could not answer. Boooo!!!

I personally think Super Mario World is the best. I love how you can get all the koopas to wear mario masks.

        Valk,
        You should've asked, first.
I was so excited getting that game as well. I bought it with the DS Lite.
All the reviews were great, and side-scrolling games are my favorite.
But, man, I had the same hurt feelings. 2 days beat and no replay value.

Some of the mini-games are pretty cute, if you're into that thing. I'm not, but my wife and some of my friends love them. At least those handheld games keep there value--go sell it and get most of your money back (half.com/ebay).

It kept me occupied while on the floor at Best Buy... unless of course a manager walked by. But I never considered buying it.

I must suck at the game, or haven't played it for long enough, because although I got it the week it came out, I've only made it to world 1-5 or something like that (I forget if there are worlds or not and how they are numbered). Shows you what kind of impression the game made on me.

I can feel ya. It took me three hours to completely beat it, and a week to get everything else. It took that long because I stopped playing. But, NSMB is meant for times you get bored, but you feel like playing a game. Hell, I still play it, because I love speed running my favorite levels.

                  I liked Super Mario 64 a bunch.

But, yeah, Super Mario World is definintly the best.

                    Mario 3 is the best.

Super Mario World is great too, but it wasn't the revolution that 3 was. Remember how your mind was blown in 3? It did things you never thought could be done in a videogame. Warp Whistle?! P Wing?! Tank Level?! Hand Traps?!??!?!?!?!?!

Yeah. 3 is the best ever.

I share a lot of sentiments about New Super Mario Bros, Valk. It was uninspired, short, and not a lot of fun.

I wasn't really around for SMB3, so it doesn't have as much nostalgic value as Mario World for me. I think SMW is the better overall game though.

I think Super Mario World is the most fun - therefore I think it is the best.

Well of course Mario failed you.

The Super Squad wasn't helping him out!

SMB3 is the best to me. But SMW is definitely a close second.

NSMB rocked. I don't know wtf people were expecting. I don't know if it's better than SMB3 and SMW but, it's definitely right up there with them.
