    HDTV Inquiry (Edited topic)

Edit: Ok... it's looking like I got RIPPED OFF on this TV. I'm finding 56"s for about half of what I paid for this one, and 61" for the same price.

Luckily, it was no long term contract... so I haven't fully bought it yet, and am capable of returning it by the end of the month.

    @$#% Philips... I'm upgrading to a 60" or 61".

But I gotta ask you TV people...

What is HDMI? HD-DVI? DLP Projection? LCD Projection? Plasma? Rear Projection? I don't know what any of this means to me... but I've got a PS2, XBox, and GC... so what's good about them? I'm guessing plasma is the best, but what about DLP and LCD?

Huh, that's an interesting question. I've noticed that my grandparents' big screen has images going off the sides of it (especially noticeable when the channel's watermark is halfway onto the screen). I never thought to find any adjustment option.

I dunno how your settings menus are set up, but on my BRAVIA there's an option under Settings>Screen called Display where you can set it to Normal, Full Pixel, -1 or -2 etc.
Changing this will fix that problem, so I suggest you look through your settings/manual for something similar.

my standard 20 inch flat screen TV has the same damn problem, with no menu setting to fix it.
