Re: stairs in dungeons
Which playtest do you mean?
You should be able to access stairs in playtest mode, as long as there's a hallway at the other end.
But, you cannot access stairs in "View Dungeon" mode (on the dungeon editor screen). You can only run around whichever level you are on.
You have to go into the true playtesting mode (via the system category), and then warp to the desired dungeon, to test if the stairs work.My kind of life’s no better off
If I’ve got the map or if I’m lost.

Re: stairs in dungeons
Then you should warp to the level the stairs would take you to, and try going up.
Can you warp to the down entrance of the stairs?
Is there a hallway there?
Can you see the stairs, and verify that they are not blocked at that end?
If you answer yes to all of these, then something is indeed wrong.
And, how does it 'not let you go down'? Does an option come up? You can see the stairs directly, right?
The only other thing I can think of is if you put an invisible event right in front of the stairs. Sometimes, then, the event will 'block' stair access (same with doors), and make it hard to access.My kind of life’s no better off

Re: stairs in dungeons
If you placed the stairs next to a left wall, for example, and you selected STAIRWAY - E, the stairs would face east and you would exit from the west side, which means the next level down you would have to have an opening on the W side
EXAMPLE
XXXXXXXXXXXX
XOOOOOOOOOX
XOOOOOOOOOX
XOOOE*OOOOX 'E is the STAIRWAY - E, and the * is where you would have
XOOOOOOOOOX to enter them
XXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXX
XOOOOOOOOOX
XOOOOOOOOOX
XOO*WOOOOOX 'W is where STAIRWAY - E from the previous floor will face,
XOOOOOOOOOX and the * is where you would be if you went down/up them
XXXXXXXXXXXX
if you place stairs on a left or right wall, always select STAIRWAY S or N and make sure its 1 block from the outer wall
if you place stairs on a top or bottom wall, always select STAIRWAY E or W and make sure its 1 block from the outer wall
Stairways in corners and directly on outer walls do not work at all
Stairway Use Chart
This is, of course, if you have a dungeon that has consistent floors, its for instructional use only
X = Outer Walls
N = No Stairs Can Be Used
E = E or W Stairs Only
S = N or S Stairs Only
B = Both Can Be Used

Re: stairs in dungeons
You can have stairs in a narrow hallway.That diagram is fine.
JPS means that the "outer walls" are the outer limits of the dungeon editor itself, not the walls that you create within the editor." I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me. " - Jesus

Re: stairs in dungeons
That would work if the next and previous floors have space to allow you to exit from them, I was just making a diagram for consistent floorsOriginally posted by MagusMartovich View PostSo you cannot have stairs in a narrow hallway? like:
#-Wall
S-Staris
F-Floor
##########
#SFFFFFFFS #
##########
How do I fix my almost complete dungeon? Should I try to put like cul-de-sacs around the edge of my staris?
