    Saddam Sentenced to Death

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061105/...saddam_verdict

Saddam Hussein was convicted and sentenced Sunday to hang for crimes against humanity in the 1982 killings of 148 people in a single town, as the ousted leader, trembling and defiant, shouted "God is great!"
    Woot.

    U.S.A! U.S.A!

Man, if it's not already going on already this is gunna create an all out civil war.

I don't think so, I think the damage was already done when he was removed from power, It might escalate, but not a huge blown out cival war.

      EDIT: How nice of Saddam
Saddam Hussein urged Iraqis on Sunday to reject the sectarian violence ripping his country apart and to "not take revenge" on U.S. invaders, his chief lawyer said after the ousted leader was sentenced to death.

That reeks of *hint hint* on Saddam's part.

Or a "Help me USA!" Like we are that stupid.

But most likely a *nudge nudge*...

"Many of Saddam's fellow Sunni Arabs, along with some Shiites and Kurds, are predicting a firestorm of violence if the court sentences the ex-president to death, as is widely expected."

From somewhere I forgot to copy the link I'll do it later

Well that's good news, in a way. I'm happy that horrible man will get what he deserves, but I think it'll only bring more trouble to the middle east

I think they should put saddam back in power instead.

It's not that crazy of an idea.

                    Re: Saddam Sentenced to Death

Jihad season will open soon in Bagdad. I can see it now:
                    - dozens killed in bagdad market in retaliation to Saddam's hanging
                    next day:
                    - same thing
                    day after:
                    - same thing but with US soldiers
                    day after:
                    - repeat cycle

So can anyone refresh and correct my poor memory: I'm confused.. Why are we still in Iraq, now that they have a new government and can deal with their own problems from now on? Are we waiting for something?

If you remember we didnt even start a war in Iraq it was a war on terror from the 9/11 attacks and bush decided "hey while we're over here lets finish what my daddy didnt" so they slowly merged it to a war in iraq, originally we went over to get bin laden, and I dont think the US actually ever declared war on Iraq, but as you can see...you never hear about bin laden anymore and he hasnt been caught yet...

Its all for the oil anyways, bush and his one track mind, I cant wait til we get that guy out of here, hopefully someone just as selfish and ignorant to other peoples feelings wont come into power

Im having a feeling this is the beginning of the end of the U.S., we're trying to do too many things at once and leaving our own country completely exposed to attack

what happen to the revolution days when if something didnt go the way we wanted, we picked up our muskets and blew them to smithereens

crimes against humanity in the 1982 killings of 148 people in a single Shiite town
Why are they appealing? If one of us killed 148 people we'd get the death penalty....hes just delaying the inevitable

                          A Bad man is dying.
                          Y'don't see me a' crying.

Gunfire echoed through the streets of Baghad Sunday, but for once the shots rang out in celebration instead of violence. Residents of the curfew-bound capital filled the sky with gunfire to praise the Iraqi High Tribunal for convicting former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein of crimes against humanity and sentencing him to death by hanging for the “willful execution” of 148 men, women and children in the Shiite village of Dujail in 1982. The court also handed out a diverse range of verdicts for Saddam’s seven co-defendants—including an acquittal, a life-imprisonment sentence and two additional death penalties.

                              As Lopez said

If you live by the gun, you die by the gun

I fully believe that if you kill someone you should be killed the same exact way...there should be no such thing as cruel and unusual punishment, because the victim wasnt able to get that, so why should their killer? I guarantee you with that policy people will definately think twice about killing someone
