The insanity segment of this contest will require the creation of an RPG Maker 1 or 2 game based on the 1985 song "We Built This City On Rock And Roll".

Rules:

A: If you use RPG Maker 2, the only music in the game must be the above song, which can be accomplished through the use of ValhallaRPG's Music Script Maker. If you refuse to include this song, you can have no music in your game.
B: The plot of the game MUST be based on the song. I do not mean for someone to submit the lyrics of the song turned into a game.
C: The game can be any type of game you wish.
D: All entries must be submitted to contest@dzarchive.com by March 12 2005

The entries will be judged by me and me alone, based completely on how well they turned the song into a game. nothing else will matter.

Prize: a gift certificate to the online store of your choice, the value of which starts at 10 dollars and increases by 10 dollars per entry, but will not exceed 80 dollars.

I'm putting it back up right now. Sorry about that, I recently transferred my site from FrontPage to pure HTML, and I took it down in the shift. The link should work fine here in about 5 minutes. While you're at it, check out some of the other files on my site at www.doanthenado.com/files. I have a pretty good number of RPGM2 demo videos and audio files. You can check out info on my game at www.doanthenado.com.

Thank you!

Edit: Oh yeah, you also might want to check out this page (http://doansdomain.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=Help&action=display&num=1101863989) to learn about the method I came up with to allow custom music to be played uninterrupted.

:lol Thanks, doan. I never really thought much of this song, but that video was FANTASTIC. I'd really like to enter this contest now. We'll see if I can get something done on time.

So... what exactly do you mean by this? are things like the quality of the game and fun factor not being taken into account?

See question above. Also, I know that this contest got extended, but what's the due date now? I can't seem to find that topic anywhere.

Edit: Insanity Contest extended to May 9th. I just found it on the calendar. My first question still stands, though.

those both will matter, but not to the level that the song does. how well it's tied to the song accounts for 60 percent of the score.
