The Rev. Ted Haggard, who resigned as one of the nation's top evangelical leaders, admitted Friday he had contacted male prostitute Mike Jones "for a massage" and bought drugs from him.

Yeah, right.

"I cried many nights, I got sick tormenting myself about whether I should do this," he said. "I finally had to come to peace with myself ... I had to do the moral thing."

This coming from the prostitute. I think it's a little late to start being moral now. I'm pretty sure you could heal lepers and raise the dead and it still wouldn't make up for being a gay crack whore.

It's like overcompensation. They're worried if they're even nice to gay guys people will suspect them, much like a lot of actually straight guys do. Then there's the factor of hating themselves for being gay and taking it out on others and jealousy over guys who are able to live openly. It's several layers of angst on top of the usual crap.
