    Need help with IE.

I'm having an issue with Internet Explorer and the Pav. It used to be I'd log in at the front of the forums and click remember me and I'd be all set unless I deleted my cookies or something. But now it's all screwed up. At first, every page I'd go to (even the front page), after it loaded it'd kick me to a login screen. If I logged in, didn't matter a couple seconds later I'd get the login screen again. I had to hit Stop in time to keep it from redirecting me, and it wouldn't accept a login no matter where I put it.

Now, it's slightly better. It doesn't kick me to the login screen on it's own. But it still won't hold a login so I can't post or get into the playground with IE. I figured it was an issue with cookies but I haven't done anything to change them and I'm not having trouble with any other sites.

So, I downloaded Firefox and while that is working fine with the Pav it's giving me problems other sites so screw that so it's no better. I just want to get IE back to the way it worked before. Anybody have any idea what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks.

What problems can you possibly have with FireFox?

As for IE, the only suggestion I have is to make sure you have all the updates that are available (check microsoft). Other than that, if it is a really big deal to you and you have any kind of system restore or back-up, use that to go back to a date before the problems occurred. Or be really hardcore and reformat.

If you have a system restore though, that has helped me a lot in the past with almost any kind of performance change my pc has.

There probably is an easier answer but I stopped using IE a long time ago.
Took me 15 minutes to remember how to change my signature, and this is all I came up with.

It won't play videos on some sites, the ones it does don't play as smoothly as they do on IE. Some sites it just brings up the source code. I'm sure it's stuff that would be fixed by getting the right plugins and whatever but I don't want to bother with all that when IE was fine up until this weirdness and that's only with one site.

Well this is a problem with people programming site specifically for IE (which they do for other browsers as well but as IE has the majority marketshare on browsers still [I believe] there are more for just IE). So for now you could use Firefox for the Pav and IE for other sites until you figure out the problem.

One thing you could try is deleting all your cookies and trying it again. Or trying to find the one for the Pav as maybe that cookie got messed up (though it's supposed to be overwritten everytime, strange things happen sometimes). I would also goto to internet options and make sure the Pav isn't a blocked site or something like that. If you have spyware checker I would run that to make sure there isn't something like that messing it up (unlikely but good to check for anyway). Beyond that I'm really not sure, as I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling IE, but you can't really do that (just like you can't really delete temporary internet files in Windows). But that might be worth a shot if you can get nothing else to work. I personally would recommend only using IE for the sites you can't view in Firefox, or Opera (another choice you might want to look into), but that's because IE doesn't like standards, though 7 promises to fix all the problems IE has now with that.

So basically just check your cookie settings, try deleting the one for the Pav, then try spyware checking, and if you really don't want to use another browser just for the Pav.

Actually scratch that, get IE7 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...s/default.mspx. Should fix lots of issues. (only available for XP though).

Well, system restore seems to have worked. I don't know why I didn't think of that. Duh.

I can't install IE7, it says I have an illegal XP. Might be true, I'm not the one that installed it. This laptop had Win2K when I got it even though it has a XP sticker on it. *shrug*

watch when you do stuff like that, microsoft logs IPs of illegal xp users trying to download their updates, if you violate it too many times theyll come after you
