    Republicans' political Hail Mary

    I hate dirty politics.

I'm sure you heard John Kerry say the botched joke about how if you don't study hard in college, you'll end up getting stuck in Iraq like George Bush has. The way it came out, he said, "if you don't study and do well in school, you'll be stuck in Iraq."

Anyone who isn't a moron could figure out what he was talking about, much like how Bush said he was trying to "create chaos." It was a botched joke. So what do the Republicans do? They run with it like a wide reciever with an open field. I hear talk show hosts saying "he's unapoligeticly bashing our troops" when he HAS apoligized and cleared up many times what he was trying to say. Bush even decided to ignore the obvious and keep his audience out of the dark of what he really meant.

So in other words, the Reupublicans are once again withholding facts and changing the truth to tackle another straw man. I admit, Kerry should've been much more careful with his words, but the magnitude that they've run with this is disgusting.

So next time you hear "how dare he not apoligize! He insulted our troops!" on the radio, remember...

    He DID apoligize.

He wasn't talking about the troops.

If you truly think otherwise, then you are a moron.

Because liberals don't twist words either.

If you give me a modern example of them twisting words this badly, I'll concede.

This isn't even the worst example of Republican word twisting. I can't think of any off the top of my head, because I've stopped paying attention to politics, but if you really think Democrats don't do the same thing, you're horribly wrong and blind.

Yeah, but the media these days seems dominantly Republican.

Or at least Fox News is.
            ...and that's why.

Not when the current President is running the war horribly.

2,800 dead US Military members and countless thousands of dead Iraqi citizens, most surely with spouses, children, and families is better than killing an embryo?

Caciss, I think it's funny that you claim not to care about politics and yet you slam Az by saying "if you don't like democracy then leave the country."

Each side slings mud, especially during elections. Sometimes, as in this case, it's very amusing to see what they try to attack.

I was going to agree with Phoenix until he said that last comment. I didn't want to vote for Bush but I couldn't in good consciousness vote for Kerry, he was just such a lame duck. Would've voted Dean in a heartbeat.

But stems cell debate is such a stupid arguement. You know what they do with all the fetuses that we can't use to cure cancer or make people walk again or give me six-pack abs? They stickem in cold storage and keep them on ice. Forever.

Yeah, dont' want to destroy all that potential for life.

Oh and Kerry caved like a little girl.

That's why you're not president johanna.

I once did. I just think it's annoying when people say they disagree with democracy, yet live in a democratic nation.

                              Re: Republicans' political Hail Mary

I was going to attempt to play devil's advocate and name an instance where Democrats purposefully misconstrued something a Republican said, but I can't come up with anything. Being out of power in almost every conceivable way, they've become the party of sound-byte reactions. It's harder to put your foot in your mouth if you've resigned your political ambitions in favor of being an "I told you so", whether they did or not.

I'd like to see Republicans lose control of the legislative branch, if only to check Cheney & Co., but I don't honestly expect them to get anything done in the interim two years. I can't imagine what bill they might put forth that Bush wouldn't veto, and there's zero chance of them gaining the two/thirds majority needed to over-ride it.
