    So, I'm getting a 360. I need help from other 360 owners

I'm going to have a job very soon, so I'm going to get a 360. I promise to never throw it at a friend's car like I did my original X Box.

All I know so far is that I'm going to get the 400 dollar one, with the hard drive and such. I'm also going to get Dead Rising, and likely Gears of War as well, as it looks extremely bad-ass. Probably PSU too, if I dont end up getting that for the PC.

I know to get a rechargable battery pack, and one of those charge and play cord thingies. Oh yes, a wireless network adapter too.

Now onto live. The system comes with silver, right? what all can be done through that? what all cannot be done with that?

    anything else I should get?

I've had to pretty much ignore games for a year or so now, as I havent had the money to buy them, and now that I'm going to be able to get back into them again, I'm getting a bit confused, trying to plan how to catch-up best.

Chromehounds isnt much fun unless you have a group to play it with.

Oh, another question. the premium system comes with "Component HDAV cables". My TV does not have component or HD support. so do I have to buy a normal AV cable seperately, or what? Well, actually, should go with S-Video. yeah.

the main purpose of paying for xbox live gold is to play multiplayer. But even with a silver account you can still download stuff from the marketplace, ect.

Note: Silver level requires Xbox 360 storage device and broadband connection. Xbox Live Marketplace downloads and MMO games may require an additional fee.

Be warned that without an HDTV, you wont be able to read any text in dead rising...

My sister has the same exact TV as me (20 inch flat screen) and she could make the text out if she sat somewhat close to the TV. I should have the same luck.

Obviously, you should buy a replacement plan from the store or Microsoft. The 360 is just as bad as the early PS2s, over-heating, chip failures and so on. I was naive enough at the time so I didn't.

As for games, I bought quite a few since the beginning of the year. If you like FPS, which I think you don't, Call of Duty 2 is completely awesome. Skip Perfect Dark, its pretty much crap except the multiplayer. Oblivion is clearly a must, even though I have barely touched it. Amped 3 was a real surprise for me, graphics are meh, but its one of the most fun and hilarious games on the 360. Dead Rising is pretty good. I got bored with it pretty quick but it offers quite a bit of replay. I have around a 30inch TV and the text killed my eyes.

yeah, the first one I had seemed to crap out rather quickly, but since I registered it, and it wasn't past the 3 month warranty (you can pay extra to have it extended) they will fix/replace it for free.

But be careful about getting a replacement box. If you buy anything from the marketplace on one 360, it gets linked to that box's serial number. But if you ever need a new box, you could still use the items/games you bought, but you would need to be online with the gamertag you used to buy it. Otherwise if you were offline with another box, bought arcade games would turn into trial versions, and themes/pics will not be available.

I don't even own a 360, and Oblivion still just may be the game I've played most in my life.

Only problem I had so far is that my dogs chewed up my AV cables. WOOOO.

I think the in box cables work for either HDTV or TV.

Dead Rising is a zombiegasmic experience. I put so many hours into that game.

Also, Ultimate Marvel is dandy, especially when you have someone to play with or online (like me!).

                      BTW, my gamertag is Kireblade.
