Which RPGs did you never finish?

As long as an RPG doesn't make me grind too much, I'll complete it. Sometimes there are RPGs that are good in story, mechanics, graphics... but for some reason, I don't complete them. In my case:

Ultima 9. Actually a good RPG, but the very choppy animation made me forfeit it.
Dragon Quest 7. After 90+ hours of play, my memory card died. $%^$# I restarted, but I just can't play all that again!
Dragon Quest 8. Nice RPG... until I came to a place where I grind-grind-grind.
Atelier Iris. Too bad. I liked this one.
Ogre Battle 64. Not a strict RPG... it was a good game, but never finished. A friend, on the other hand, finished it multiple times, with a different ending each.
Phantasy Star. Nice game, but a bit too dry in modern context.
Disgaea 2. I actually like the panel and throw mechanics... dunno about the story. The item worlds / subpoenas are a bit too random/messy, and too long.
FF8. After I had a bunch of nice cards, I lost a lot of them to an opponent. It had been quite a while before I saved. I smashed the controller. First AND last time. Never played again.
    Vagrant Story. Hmm... dunno.
Morrowind. This is actually a nice game. It is an epic game. In earlier years I would have absorbed myself into it. But now I won't.
Diablo II. I played this like crazy... made it somewhat near the end. And then just stopped playing.
Chrono Cross. Good RPG. I liked the magic system... until I came to grind-grind-grind.
Tales of Destiny. Good game. I don't remember why I stopped playing.

I have a few more to list but I'll stop now. Most of my collection is RPG-based, and I refuse to sell unless I need the money. For FFXII, I think I'll sell Disgaea 2.

I probably finish about a third of the RPGs I play, methinks.

Morrowind and Oblivion. But that is because they are so big, and I end up getting distracted by the side quests.

But for the most part, I have finished all the RPGs I own. I will say, Persona was close to not being finished, because I kept getting lost in the maze like dungeons.

I've finished most of the RPGs I've started. The only times I haven't are when I rent them (obviously). So far only an Excalibur game and Shadow Hearts: From the New World are unfinished.

I would count Shining Force 3, but I'm going to get to play that again soon.

I've finished a few RPGs in my day.

But I never feel they're finished until I've gotten everything. I'm what you call a completist.

A few major RPGs I've beaten in their entirety are Kingfom Hearts 2, Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy VI, Secret of Mana and the CRAZY CRAZY DIFFICULT FINAL FANTASY LEGEND for the original Game Boy. I ain't never gonna play THAT one again.
Despite what you think, I am very, very real.

i used to be a completist... then i realize how much time all that takes. so now, i save my time for the ones i really and truly crave to conquer. which aren't many nowadays...

I try to complete all of my RPG's, but i'm just so bad at taking the time. Like right now, i'm playing PSU online, instead of playing my other regular RPG's like Suikoden 5 and Tales of the Abyss, Stella Deus, Legendia, Summoner 1 & 2, Wild arms ACF, 2, 3, 4, etc, etc, etc.

I got bored with Legend of the Dragoon and the Arc the Lad collection. I never finished Tales of Destiny either.

Elemental Gimmick Gear - Never made it past the opening cinema. thank god I only spent 2 dollars on it.

Wild Arms 2 - Stopped playing it for a while, started it back up again, and no matter what, I could not figure out what I was supposed to be doing.

Lunar 2 - I wanted to finish it, but I sold it almost right after I got it to pay some bills. I'll get it again some day.

Wild Arms 3 - This game irritates me, it's obscenely repetitive.

                Final Fantasy 1, 2, 4, 5 - I don't like these games at all.

Re: Which RPGs did you never finish?

I usually get to the last boss and then just loose the drive to actually cross the finishline. I'm sitting at the bottom of Althena's tower in Lunar right now and I don't feel any motivation to actually finish the job.

And then there are games like Vagrant Story where I'll end up dying at some point and I just don't feel like going back and doing everything again since I've last saved. Now I don't know if I want to continue the game from where it is or start over. And if I start over then I gotta do the whole thing over again so why bother.

                  I guess I'm around 50-50 eventually.

Re: Which RPGs did you never finish?

People claim Dragon Quest 8 can be beaten in 40 hours. These people are liars.

Xenosaga stole 30 hours of my life before I came to my senses.

Suikoden 2's great and memorable but I stopped because for some reason I thought I could finish DQ8 first. I'll start it back up again soon hopefully.

Mario & Luigi for GBA... I wasn't terribly engaged. And now it has like 3 sequels so it'll take a while to catch up, or I just skip it altogether and play the latest iteration (whatever that is at this point).

I beat one RPG in my life : FFTA. I really wish that I was spending that time playing the good Final Fantasy: Tactics.

That is the exact reason for me, as well. Same for Wild Arms 3. Thank God Wild Arms 4 is so linear - I'll know what to do once I start playing THAT again.

I beat Arc the Lad 1, but I couldn't beat Arc the Lad 2 because I got to this impossible battle. I tried beating it again this past summer, but got incredibly bored by it - the "tell your character where to go" mode of transportation fits in much better with the series than the "walk faster than you'd like on a tile-based map and run into walls" thing they established in the second one.
Also, imagine dungeons that have about ten Final Fantasy Tactics-length battles. I swear, it feels like you're never getting anywhere.
And I never even took Arc the Lad 3 out of its case.

I didn't finish Skies of Arcadia because I didn't like it.

I wanted to beat Persona 2, but it wouldn't let me.

I lost Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories while I was still in Neverland. I'd say it was probably for the better, except that money was spent on it.

And Secret of Evermore wasn't Secret of Mana, so I never beat it.

In Xenosaga. I got to the Song of Nephilim - the dungeon where you explode boxes in order to progress. And then we sold it.

I haven't beaten Dragon Quest VIII yet, but after all the work I put into it, I intend to.

I'm working on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance now.

                          That's more than I thought.

I never finished The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion for the PSP mainly because it was too confusing. There was no way to keep track of your progress, like a quest log or anything, so if you put down the game for awhile, and then came back, it was hard to remeber where you left off, especially if you needed to talk to some NPC or somthing. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was.

I never finished StarOcean. I got to the Urssa Lava cave and couldn't beat the dragon for the life of me. That and the story wasn't very interesting. I thought it would be more of a sci-fi space RPG, but it was just a fantasy like any other.
