    Silent Hill 3?

Want to get into the Silent Hill games but can't find 1 or 2. I know they're PS1 games so they might be hard to come across. Just wondering if I start with 3 if I am going to be missing out on a lot of the story or not?

    Yes and SH2 is a PS2 game.

SH1 is necessaryish for SH3. SH2 is standalone and I think it's the best of the series.

You could play three without playing one, I guess, but I wouldn't recommend it.

4 is stand alone as far as I know but I haven't played it yet.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

Isn't The Room the only SH game that's... y'know... NOT IN SILENT HILL?!

*i know it was suppsed to be standalone and blah blah.

The titalar room isn't in Silent Hill, but nearly all the action takes place in the town.

They used to have copies of SH1, but I guess they sold out. I picked up a used copy for about ten bucks.

And those aren't even IN the town itself, just outside of it.

But the whole point of 4 was to kinda show that it could happen anywhere, all you needed was some insane lunatic!

Silent Hill 1 of course was the game that showed you what Silent Hill was all about.
Silent Hill 2 is about a man who is in search of his wife in the town.
Silent Hill 3 is a bit stranger than the previous versions, but well worth playing.
Silent Hill 4 is about a man who is trapped in his apartment building(which is the apartment where the bad guy used to live) and is forced to enter the world of silent Hill.
My point is, if you look hard enough, ALL OF THESE GAMES ARE CONNECTED.
In Silent Hill 2, James(main character) reads a newspaper article that tells of a serial killer named Walter Sullivan who kills his victims and puts a number on their back pertaining to what order they were killed in. Walter Sullivan is the bad guy in Silent Hill 4 people! That is just one example, I can't remember the other ones because the only one I've played recently is Silent Hill 4.
I think you should play through the Silent Hill series in chronological order my friend, even if Silent Hill 1 is hard to find. I live near a game store that sells new and old games, and they have a ton of Silent Hill 2, 3, and 4's, plus i think they have a Silent Hill 1 as well.
PLAY THEM ALL, THEY ARE WAY BETTER THAN RESIDENT EVIL BROTHER!

It's because of the movie. Before the movie came out, you could find copies of SH1 for $5-$20. I got a non-GH copy (used) for $10 from EB last year.
