Anyone still play Monster Hunter online on PS2?

I had just gotten Monster Hunter recently and been playing with ChuckRich online and was wondering if anyone else at the Pav still plays MH online?

I heard it was because the original Monster Hunter didn't sell as well as Capcom had hoped.

In Japan? **** YA! It sold quite a bit.

It's the stupid reviewers fault. It's got a 68% on GameRankings and it's so much better than that. If it wasn't for Gloomy I'd have never gotten it thanks to the bad reviews. Even when the game is frustrating the crap out of me it's way better than the reviews make it sound.

Somebody needs to pick a time and place for us all to meet up. Unless we just want to go with Red Land Area P @ 10PM Eastern as our standing meetup time? Unless that's inconvenient for somebody.

EDIT: I finally bumped into Gwommy last night and added him to my friend list. He says he usually plays 7-9 so maybe we should bump up our general meeting time. How about 8ish? Once you get people on your friend list it's easy to find them wherever they are but you have to find them first to get them on there.

I bet Monster Hunter 2 has better everything. :cry I heard the towns are bigger with more people in them at a time. Is that true? Because that's my main dislike of MH. It's practically claustrophic for an online game.

Well, I know how to defeat it, actually it only took around 10 minutes (plus, I wasn't alone), but it's just that there's so much time in between quests, finding an area that isn't full, etc.

EDIT: I edited that post before I knew you replied. Now it doesn't really make much sense.

here's the weekly online event cycling schedule:

Velociprey Hunting!
In area 2 of the Forest and Hills stage, you're blocked in for some arena-type combat with Velociprey, Genprey and Ioprey. The objective is to slay 30 Velociprey(if i remember right). Rewards are any of the different prey materials.

Felyne Hunting!
Slay 50 of these guys in area 10 of the Forest and Hills stage. Again, you're blocked off from going anywhere, so it's just you and the Felyne. Rewards are felvine and pawprint stamps(need 50 for the Cat's Paw sword and shield weapon).

On the Trail of the Beast!
Kirin in the Swamp Zone, area 5. Rewards are Kirin materials.

The GMR Heavy Metal Crusade
Fight Diablos in the Desert areas. Rewards are Diablos materials and chrome vouchers. you'll need 5 vouchers to maker the GMR Chrome Heart. Very cool Great Sword and I recommend getting it.

Gravios Hunting!
A fun test of might and skill against Gravios. You're given 15 min. to slay him in area 6 of the Volcano stage. Rewards are Gravios materials of course. Not sure if there's anything else. (edit: you can obtain Commendations too. much easier than doing a Powderstone quest for them)

The BBQ Festival!
Yea, I don't like this one. Boring! It's a contest to see who can cook and deliver the most Well-Done Steaks. Rare reward is King meat.

The Legendary Kirin
Slay Kirin in the Jungle, area 4. Clear out the prey and you've got a perfect one-on-one with Kirin. Rewards are Kirin materials.

Rulers of Heaven and Earth
Slay Rathian and Rathalos in the Forest and Hills stage. This is an easier version of the Troublesome Pair quest. I love this one. Easy money. Rewards are Ian an Los materials.

Repel the Giant Dragon!
Slay Lao-Shan Lung. 3 star quest. Easy money as long as you bring a competent team. I used this quest to get Lao Spine material, so I could trade them for Firestones with the elder in the Swamp area. Rewards are Lao materials! Be sure to give him enough time to enter the final area so you can get all 9 carves.

Also to note, in addition to the other rewards you'll get, there's a chance to receive Guild Tickets for each of these quests.
