    PS3/PSP question

The "Playstation Store", which is the PS3's equivalent to the Xbox Live Marketplace, is how you will buy PS1 games for the PSP's PS1 emulator, correct?

Has it been announced if there's any way that you won't need a PS3 to access the store? I have a PSP and would like to get some games for the emulator in the future, but I have no intention of ever owning a PS3.

It has, PS1 games will be available for download from the usual PSP downloading site thing places. I read it somewhere in the GameStop PS3 Launch Center, I believe. Or maybe PSM it's hard to remember where you read things from.

I believe it is going to start on the PS3 first, and then they will do it where you can download from a PC.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Also, they said they'll eventually be doing PS2 games also and that when an emulation program for PS3 is done the games will be playable on the console as well. Which might sound pointless with it already playing the discs but that means if they put up a hard to find PS1/2 game you can play it on your PS3 without tracking down a physical copy. Also, not sure exactly, but it stands to reason that since there's a memory stick slot in the PS3 you should be able to use saves between console and handheld. You could download FF7 and play it at home and on the go on the same save instead of being two seperate playthroughs, making the PSP truly live up to its name. Man, thinking about that just made PS3/PSP seem a 1000 times more desirable to me. Dang it.

EDIT: Just found this on GS. A list of the first games available for download.
Next, the Game Archives service, which will bring retro games to the PS3 and PSP, was discussed. Sony also states that ten new titles will be added to the lineup each month from the start of the service sometime in late November. Initially the focus will be titles for use with the PSP, but PS3 titles will be added later. Below is an initial list of ten PS and MSX titles slated for the PSP:

Resident Evil Director's Cut (Survival Horror, Capcom)
Konami Antiques MSX Collection Vol. 1 (Miscellaneous, Konami Entertainment)
Konami Antiques MSX Collection Vol. 2 (Miscellaneous, Konami Entertainment)
Bishi Bashi Special (Miscellaneous, Konami Entertainment)
Arc the Lad (Role-playing, Sony Computer Entertainment)
Jumping Flash! Aloha Danshaku Funky Daisakusen no Maki (Action, Sony Computer Entertainment)
Hot Shots Golf 2 (Golf, Sony Computer Entertainment)
Silent Bomber (Action, Namco Bandai Games)
Tekken 2 (Action, Namco Bandai Games)
Mr. Driller (Puzzle, Namco Bandai Games)
