    Siren

Has anyone played this game? I've been at this game for several days now, and I want to express how difficult this game is.

At least the gameplay is easy to grasp, but that doesn't make sneaking around easier. This game makes me wish for something a millions times easier actually, like MGS2 European Extreme mode. :P

I'm at the school (first mission- Reiko) and this is the first level that is difficult enough to **** me off. Every time I turn around, the principal is batting around Harumi, and then I have to start halfway through the level again.

Anyone pass that part? Need tips for this damn level.

At least the game creeps me out. What do you expect though, the writer/director also did Silent Hill.

Yeah, I heard the gameplay was near impossible.

      Re: Siren

Actually, the game is fun. The gameplay is weird, but manageable. Its hard to move, but the director is going for realism, like he did for Silent Hill. As SH had a character with less than perfect aim, Siren has the characters move clumsy.

But, the gameplay isn't the problem. Its just the sheer difficulty. At the part I'm at, the principal, a sort of semi-boss, gets back up and chases you after like 10 seconds of beating him down. This sucks because you have to sneak by the zombies to have half a chance of beating the level. Mix these two facts together, and you can see my frustration.

Impossible by difficulty only. At least in my case anyway.

The game takes some getting used to. I personally liked the stealth-survival horror mix, it made things interesting. I enjoyed the game.... but it is difficult. Your enemies are smart, persistant, and have great aim. One wrong move and your ****ed. I miss that game, I'll have to buy it once I get some money coming in.

One wrong move, you ain't kidding.

But that's the thing of the level I'm on. You have to sneak, but it spells death if you do. I would fight my way through, if I didn't have one with a gun on my *** if I did. And there is one with a hammer, that no matter how well I time it, I seem to keep missing the damn thing, and get killed first.

This game is scarier than Silent Hill, actually. At least in that game you could defend yourself. But in this, you hide all the time. It's refreshing, but I am a nervous wreck by the time I complete a level. Mainly because I know that one wrong move, I start over.

The game certainly will keep you on your toes.

Yeah, I know. Not even the ghosts in SH4 were this unstoppable.

I'd rather fight them all together with no health items, than this principal as is. At least the former would be a lot easier, and less stressful.

Oh wait... the point of playing a horror game is to INDUCE stress isn't it?

                Re: Siren

Aside from the bad idea of using English voice actors from England with characters who look very much like Japanese, I thought the story had a good edge to it.

Until I ended up getting stuck in an almost impossible stage, where I couldn't do anything without dying.

The game is too harsh and unforgiving. Stupid gameplay brings it down a lot.

I wanted to finish it too.

I rented it, when I just got shot from a roof over and over again while haviing to escort someone I went back to Devil May Cry 3, because it was easier.
"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."

What Garr said. Except for the part about playing DMC3 instead, I only recently got that. That game was insanely frustrating and I barely got anywhere at all during my rental.
I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

                      Re: Siren

Garr- was the the stage with the professer (first with a gun) escorting a student? It was fairly early in the game.

I remember that part. You had to take a different path that was right beside you, to keep from being seen. Right in front of you was a road that meant certain death, but to the left was a downward slope that led out of sight of the sniper.

I can't call it stupid gameplay, as its simple and easy to understand. Its just difficult to understand what you are supposed to do. What is stupid about stealth anyway?

But if you think it was bad NOW, you guys had no idea how bad Siren will GET. At one point, you will have to replay the same levels again, but this time you have a choice of 2 objectives. If you complete the same objective as before, then you will be forced to replay ALL the missions you've done before until you come back to the point where you replay it again. Do the 2nd objective when that time comes.

Oh yeah, the 2nd objectives are far more vague and different to achieve. For instance, one of the early stages involve you playing as the religion's priest, who has to reach a road as the first objective. Later, you have to play as him again, but this time do something different: find a nun's veil.

To complete this, you have to find a gas can, put it in front of a shack, set it down and stand up on it, get on the shack and examine the veil. They never tell you to do this, you have to find this out on your own. And this is the primary objective you have to complete. Oh yeah, and while you're doing this, you have to make sure the Shibito that is on a roof, normally staring right at that very spot, is looking away.

That's not Stealth, that's what videogamers have to do in the arcades of hell, over and over and over again untill they tear their own hands off.

                          Re: Siren

Yeah, that part was one of the easiest levels, so if you hated Siren then, you will never like it. In fact, that level with the sniper if pathetically easy compared to most of the other levels.

I, however, like the gameplay. To each his own.

To Vonwert- What impossible stage was it? Did you remember what you had to do?

I believe it was the priest guy or something. You had to get past these 3 or 4 zombies, one with a gun.

I know that is vague, but that is all I remember. I managed to beat that sniper one only after 30 tries.
