    Some things I've discovered.

Okay. Regarding miss: Set agi low... I have it set to 2 per level, which means you get between 1 and 2 when you level up. Set enemies similarily low... that's fine. Now, set Luck at 50 across the board: enemies and allies included.

In a test that I did, 33 out of 41 attacks were hits, 4 were misses and 4 were criticals... just about right, eh?

Enemies, when set at 50 luck as well, have a similar hit rate. In 24 attacks, they hit 18 times, missed 4 times and criticalled twice. Just about right!

Setting luck at 100 causes about a 50% critical rate, which is really too high for me.

    So, one problem solved!

Regarding Enemy AI. Give each enemy LOTS of MP, unless you want them to run out during battle. Get ALL enemies and characters 100 INT and set them to Balanced. They will NEVER block unless they run out of MP and will change up their attacks from one turn to the next. I've found that they tend to follow a similar pattern from one battle to the next (My test monsters would use their ability the first round and attack the second), but at least they weren't blocking.

    That's all for now! Enjoy!

i didnt think about you being able to block during battle

the LUCK and INT is in percentage anyways so 100% will be near perfect everytime, which verifies LUCK is the probability of you having the upper hand in a random decision(critical, miss, getting a rare item), the enemy would have probably had a 100% critical hit rate if your luck was at 0

still this is cool, ill be setting mine up according to this, i find that when i start a game off I usually miss half the time(which is frustrating, esp when the enemy misses half the time too)

SO... If you gave a monster 0 LUCK and yourself 100 LUCK then (presumably) you'd always get a critical hit against that monster, right? What if you were also to have an accessory that added 99 to your LUCK? Does that just ensure that you always get a critical hit? WHat does the special ability Critical Hit Up do, then? IS it like a percentage of LUCK increase or just a given ammount? (Like 10 points or something?)

The reason I ask is my PS2 is in the shop/circular file so I can't go playtest it out myself...

by theory you should, but AGI & INT is also linked to LUCK so it all depends on those also

        IN CLASS DATA
Critical up is a set % that luck goes up, its a Special Attack set in the class and you cant change the "up" variable, so im presuming it increases it by 20%...but i think if your luck was at 100% that skill wouldnt be effective anymore

        AS AN ACCESSORY
You can determine the rate at which this item increases your luck, but you cannot go past 100% with your stats and the item combined

        hope that answers your question

SO the LUCK Stat could really just be translated as a Critical Hit percentage then, right? I had kinda thought that LUCK was either involved in Criticals or how often you found treasure but when the monsters had LUCK too I was kinda confused. Would an enemy's LUCK cancel out your own? I mean, if this is the case, then an accessory with a bonus to LUCK would be (slightly) effective as then you could rely more on such a character getting Criticals. I will be making a game with a purly physical character and I was hoping to have her with at least a 50/50 Critical Hit Rate by the end of the game, but if I can't make that a possibility then I'll have to go back to the drawing board... again...

LUCK determines the probability of you having the upper hand in a random decision, so lets say your luck is 30 and the enemies is 50...he would have a 20% more of a chance of landing a critical on you then you would on him....if you had an accessory that had LUCK+30 that would give you 60 and him 50, so you would be 10% more likely to land a critical then him

also the same with MISS, but if you had 30 and he had 50 youd have 20% more probability of missing a hit then he would

The LUCK also deals with items, if you put an item set on Almost Never, I think for every 20% your luck is it goes up one level, like Almost Never would turn into Seldom(or whatever it is) if your luck was at 20(not completely sure on this, havent tested)

im going to sit down one day and do some extensive research on the stats and see if i can find the formula the game uses

You know what? All of your knowledge (and a little speculation) has been a tremendous help! Thank you so much!

just things Ive found out over time, like I said before I dont only use the rpg series I use basic and vb6 on the computer so I get to make my own battle systems.... so I had to research all that to see exactly how the battle system stats work so I could apply it to my computer games(even though I have yet to make one....DirectX is giving me some problems in learning it...no good tutorials )

                And thanks for the compliment
