    Sim-Jack

Basically its a simulated life game, not sure how many people persue this on rpgm3 but ive thought about it quite a bit the past few days

I started it tonight, its working out pretty well, one question if anyone knows...is there a way to display variables to the player or do you have to go through the whole val-condition event thing?

what i have so far is the 6 main characters, the town, and the ability to change day-night, after you change to day it adds 1 "day" to a shared variable, after 15-30 "days" (havent decided yet) - it adds 1 "year" to your life(a different shared variable) and resets day, and depending on how old you are youre able to do different things around town and do more stuff in the world, havent worked out all the details yet...this is the first actual game ill complete and actually want to play myself so im anxious to get it done...

Other things im going to incorporate into the game
    ------------------------------------------------
Have 5 girls with each different relationship levels
    Work to earn money
    earn job promotions(get paid more)
    find different jobs
go to school to get requirements for higher paying jobs
expand house from shanty to mansion in 4-5 cash upgrades
buy stuff to make your home town more appealling

theres also going to be real life drama unfolding as the story goes on, youre not going to know what to expect the next day....lol especially with 4 girlfriends at one time...

Im going for the azure dreams kinda thing but more life-like

im trying to make this seem like a never ending game, but with something to do every "day", right now ive thought about enough things to use about 42 variables for different things instead of the 32 in my previous post

im not going for world maps, just being able to jump from town to town to conserve memory

does this sound at any bit interesting to play? any suggestions? should i put a lot of storytellers in it so the player can bond with the character or just make it straight in-game talk? Im definately open to any suggestions or constructive criticism...lol

    You cannot display variables.

Sounds very interesting. You just need to work around RPGM3 to make it work, but it can be done.

Ya ive been thinking a lot about how the scripting is going to be done, im thinking about having one central script with all the variable events and itll run when you select to go to sleep

i get confused too easily when i start embedding decisions within one another though...it gives me a headache...

ill take a few poor quality tv pictures(since i cant take screenshots) and see about putting them on my website along with a more detailed description

Does anyone have a better name for the game then sim jack? sounds lame but i cant really call it sims for obvious reasons and this was just a quick name i picked out

you have any idea how long it took me to try to find 2d Drawn 4 character models that even resembled the 3d models at east a little? VERY HARD! I dont think i like drawn 4 as much as i used to now...

You could make up a cute, weird name like "Love Me Ever" or "Romance Under the Sky"

Or "Life Goes By" or "Life Situations"

Just what ever angle you are looking for. Either the romance angle or the life simulation angle.

You could call it Series Three
Basically, Perversions making a game thats like Harvest Moon/Animal crossing...so good luck with your game, but don't try to tread on anyones toes.

Nah, it's cool, Hito. He's not really ripping anything off from my ideas, besides the dating thing. In description, it sounds similar to what I am trying to do, but is different enough to make me not care. Besides, I do not know when, or if, Series 3 will be finished. And, for a game like this JPS, you're going to HAVE to get used to the idea of decision branches within decision branches within decision branches. This type of game just flat-out requires 'em.

Yeah, Torayu's conversation system has the same thing. Also, I meant Series Three, but it's Two chronologically.

I don't use RPGM3 much, but I'm pretty sure that isn't possible, either.

                          Re: Sim-Jack

its possible if you branch them out in modes and let them run each other through im pretty sure

I have no idea what perversion is making, or anyone else, I dont have any way of downloading games for it so I dont even bother to open or d/l zip files

if im treadin on anyones toes let me know i can change a few things, but thanks for your response to that post perversion

interesting named vonwert, ill probably use Love Me Ever or something, something off-the-wall

as for decision making inside decision making, ill prob just make a vb6 program where all i have to do is type in the chain in a cluster of webbed text boxs and let the program write out the script for me, then just copy it straight to the game

if anyone has any idea for a program that would make rpgm3 life easier let me know, im limited graphics wise as i havent had time recently to research that, but i know how to program custom databases for storing information and creating custom scripts like the one i mentioned above, it shouldnt take too long to make and i can email you the program or upload it on my site, plus everyone can benefit from any idea that comes to mind

Actually, I just realized what game was being talked about. It would be possible if you only slept in one place. I'm thinking of sleeping at multiple inns, as you can't do anything with the innkeeper and you can't have a central script in more than one place unless you make it in more than one place. But if it's just at your house, then it might work.

yea draygone, thats what im planning, the whole game revolves around 1 town and possibly another placed right next door

                              UPDATE

I just got done putting your work into the game

you get to go to work once a day, a day is determined from the time you wake up until the time you select "tomorrow" as the time to wake up, to determine if youve been to work, I assigned that to Variable 05, with 0=No and 1=Yes, I also have 2 other variables for your job, Variable 06 determines your Position in the company, 0=New Employee(70G/day) 1=Experienced Employee(90G/day), 2=Manager(120G/day), and 3=Owner(180G/day), Variable 08 determines how long youve been there, you move up to your next position depending on how many times you show up for work

So basically the system works out like this

1.go to work and get paid, Variable 05 changes to 1, time at job(Variable 08) increases by 1, theres a val-cond that determines the length of time youve been there and promotes you according to the value of Variable 08

2.go home and go to sleep until "tomorrow" Variable 05 changes to 1 and Variable 01(day) increases by 1

the next thing im working on is the school system, where youll be able to take certain classes for a set amount of gold, depending on the class you take it will increase a specific ability(or few depending on the class) by 1 point

the reason to build ability points is because im planning later in the game to let you buy and construct a tournament field where you can fight other people of various levels (like a gladiator showdown) and win more money and stuff
