    Stories of fixing computers

Well it wasn't a virus at all that killed my Laptop. It was a simple disconnection of a little plug underneath the keyboard, didn't cost me a single penny either.

What are some of your stories of fixing your computers? What happened to it and what did you have do to fix it?

Well at one point my computer randomly started not starting up. So first I thought maybe the power button wasn't pushing in correctly, but I switched the faces of my two computers and the same thing kept happening. I looked online and some people said it might be the RAM, but both of my sticks were really good, though I took one out and it booted up, but then tried it again and it failed. So at this point I suspected the Power Supply (as it was one I got with my case so not the best, and around 450W, and I have 4 HDs now an XP 2600+ processor, and a GeForce FX 5600 which together do draw quite a few amps). So I got me a new power supply for $50 with active power factor correction and 500W, and now my computer works just as good as it always did.

HD crashed after 4 years (with .5 GB left) so I bought a new computer.

My computer is broken right now so I'm using my laptop full time. I'm waiting on a PS/2 keyboard to (hopefully) fix it. It should be here tonight.

Besides that, a hard drive crapped out, so I upgraded it (running with 400 GB right now).

I overheated/burned my processor so I upgraded that, along with a new motherboard. Cost a decent amount... about $300 for that one.

That's all that has actually broken, though I have done hundreds of upgrades, and each time I had a problem or two while installing it.
