    Since everyone is going free-lance.

I actually have been doing a few small tats for people I use to work with for a few bucks a piece. The last one was religious, so I didn't know if I could bring myself to do it (plus the guy walked out on me my last day of work -_0) or even if he could pay me.

But that's not the part of this topic I'm interested in. My brother-in-law owns his own company, installing HV/AC units that run free of the battery (so you can use them while the engine is off) in Semi-trucks. He has a building, a shop, and everything, except a logo. So, instead of paying 400 bucks to have a graphic designer draw it, my sister came to me to ask if I can do it, or if my friends can do it. Since it's short notice (this weekend!) I decided that I have the time...

The problem is that he wants me to draw a cartoonish semi-truck with a guy hanging out the window in the "Ratfink" (google it) style, and I'm unsure if I can accomplish this in the manner he wants it done. He's sent me good references of the truck and the basic style, but I'm still shaky on doing it.

I guess I'm asking about what advice could be given to me (you all know my style) in drawing a rather manlish sort of semi-truck with a huge-headed cowboy... The terms basically want it to be cartoonish but manly, detailed but not too detailed...Looking fast and mean, and really MANLY.

And if he chooses it, he'll actually be using it for stickers, the sign, buisness cards, the website...TSHIRTS...even the TRUCKS they'll be using to travel for the installation. I just want to do my best...

    So..any tips about the cartooning?

Another freelance - I work at Goodwill as everyone knows, with two deaf individuals. We are trying to get a group together for a sign-language class, and guess who gets to do the banner?

I would put your awesome Photoshopping skills to good use here.

This is a wonderful opportunity. Getting paid to design stuff is a great way to get your work noticed AND you get paid nicely for it as well.

Goodwill is basically an organization that's main goal is to help people with disabilities actually be able to work in an enviornment that isn't going to look down on them for their disabilities. (and NO that is NOT why I am working there.) All the money that is generated goes to (other then paying us) alot of diffrent benefits and such that Goodwill organizes. We actually have a work program for the special education students at a local high-school that comes in from Mon-Thurs who straighten our hangers and underwear. They are such sweeties too. Anyways, you can find Goodwill all across the US. It's a good company with really good benefits.

And thank you Goemon. It's not the photoshopping I have a fear of, it's the actual drawing. And right now, I have no one at home to bounce my ideas off of, so I'm kinda..stuck for the moment.

Oh, well you're good at drawing--I've seen it firsthand in your comic in the Imaginari.

I'd say.....do a little bit of exaggeration when you draw human figures. It all boils down to having a lot of fun and being a little spontaneous. When you're cartooning, you can do almost anything you like. Try reading comic strips in your newspaper or picking up some cartooning books for inspiration. I like to watch cartoons and even play video games to get inspiration.

And practice a little at a time too. You'll find that once you get the hang of drawing a little differently, you'll find so much enjoyment.

Sorry, never heard of it. My school was larger and didn't need outside support (aside from taxes of course).

See, Goemon, the biggest problem is that i have two days to do this. Or at least submit a sketch. My sister is also wanting to pay me, which I'm trying to get her NOT to do. -_0...

Anyways, thanks..! I printed out a few images to hopefully help me out, but I'm still kinda iffy about it.

                Don't worry! You'll do fine.

The goodwill near me is scary.

This is all I could come up with in 3 fricken hours. I tore up five other versions and demolished at least three to four peices of tracing paper.

                    I'm doomed.

I like the stylization of the truck. I'm just wondering how you're going to fit the cowboy in there.

                        Is the smoke/flames photoshopped?

This is cool and all, but should'nt this be in the imaginari forum?
Either way, hope it works out for you!
