    ARGHGHA!! (Movie Commercials)

Just was watching Law and Order last night when this movie commercial comes on. Ok, whatever...

    ...It was the whole trailer!!!

What the heck is wrong with advertisers, it used to be that they could show 60 seconds of a movie and still get people to see it. Now they show us the whole movie beforehand.

This happened before for a couple movies too. (I forget their names) Now it is becoming a trend with advertisers. I understand movie theatres doing this but for TV commercials? WTF?!

Movie trailers as a whole have been getting old and predictable.

Scary Movie? Action Movie? Build up tension with quickly flashing scenes of the 'horrifying' stuff with screeching music. Then suddenly *pause* showing a more peaceful scene with the main character saying some kinda crummy one-liner, then scare/awe the audience with one last action/graphic image.

Funny Movie? Cram ALL or as much as you can of the funny parts and slapstick humor while lightly touching on whatever plot there is in it. Or if it's a parody, make it a parody trailer.

CGI animal-talkie? Show them saying/doing funny stuff and explain the plot while saying it's bound to be "the Funniest" or "the number one" or "the best family movie of the year!"

    Kinda jaded on trailers.
    ...and that's why.

I love movie commercials. It helps me to weed out the worthwhile movies from the crap. The more I see a movie commercial, the less likely I am to see that movie. If they play a movie commercial in EVERY commercial set, then that movie is the bottom of the barrel.

There have been several instances where I see a movie trailer, and then upon seeing the movie I realize that there was a scene from the movie's ENDING in the trailer. Brilliant, movie people, brilliant.

You forgot to mention how every single one is "the funniest movie since shrek" or whatever the line is.

How long will it be before someone is brave enough to attempt what Spirits Within did?

Considering what a collossal success it was, I wouldn't be surprised if 15 studios are making the next serious photo realistic CG movie right now!

All sarcasm aside, I DID see a trailer for a serious CG movie that was all harsh black & white, kinda looking like Killer 7 in black & white. Wish I could remember what it was called though.

The Spirits Within needed a CG script more than it needed CG actors.

You mean achieve the biggest box office loss of all time? I dunno. Ask Terry Gilliam.

                        Renissaince. Renissiace. Renissance. WHATEVER.

In production the same time as Sin City, and heavily inspired by it. Apparently it's "meh."

I'm gonna have to agree with you on this one. It's quite annoying actually. I've seen so many comedy previews that didn't tell me what the movie was, and when I went to see the movie, I'm all "oh wait, there's a plot?". Take RV, for example. All the trailer let me know was that Robin Williams and his family went out on an RV trip that had wacky hi-jinks like raccoons in the RV. I never saw a trailer that said anything about the MAIN PLOT about him tricking his family into the trip so that he could go to a business meeting.
