What's the strangest pet you've had?

Thinking about Valk's bunny, I was prompted to create this thread to see if anyone out there has had pets that were not cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, etc.

I've had a tarantula for 10 years, but it got stolen from my apartment. I had two scorpions, but they both died fairly quickly. And my Grandma had a parrot that lived for 40 years. They had this huge cage for it outside (they lived in the country) during the summer, and inside during the winter. One day, we went to the cage to feed it, and its skull was lying on the bottom of the cage along with a bunch of red and green feathers. My Grandma was devastated. They think a small weasel or some such animal got in the cage and ate Poncho (that was his name). Anyway, who else besides Terr has had an unusual pet?

I haven't owned any super-bizarre pets, but I spent several summers looking after the Ecolab critters (snakes, turtles, scorpions, etc) at the Witte Museum.

Then I was the jailer (AKA small animal specialist) at this joint:

I also took care of the chinchillas and the ferrets.

If I was rich (and didn't live in a box) I'd get a Sun Conure. We had one at the store and it would sit on my shoulder while I worked (and sometimes play with my collar). Amazingly enough, it only pooped on me once. I love the smart birds.

Id love to get a chinchilla. So cute I could squuze them till their eyes pop out.

Ive just setup my fishtank for the first time in about a year, and Im gonna fill it up with freaky looking goldfish like before.

I want a hedgehog for a pet, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to take care of it with school and all.

I once had 3 frogs, but I was like 9 or 10 at the time, and my dad left the lid of their tank ajar after feeding them. They all got out, and dried up into frog-patties. Of course I had to clean them up.

I also had a tarantula for about half of a year. It died eventually, but it was easy to take care of, since we could just catch crickets outside to feed it.

A puppet. No really. They are rather good pets. They don't make messes and eat very little. They play when you want to, and leave you alone when you want to be left alone.

But seriously. The oddest thing I've probably ever owned has been a pair of finches that kept laying eggs in their food.

That or the Autistic, Skitzophrentic, Psycotic toddler with ADHD we call a golden retriever. (The same dog that likes to visit you on the toilet and drink the bathwater.)

Other then that. No weird pets, really. I wish I did tho.

Golden Retrievers can be the most unruly dogs in the world if left untrained. I had one that had never been trained, and she tore the siding off the house, broke two windows and two doors trying to get inside at various times, and she ate absolutely everything she could get into.

My brother and I had a menagerie of hamsters when we were younger, so we named them all after X-Men characters. We had Wolverine, Jean Grey, Rogue, Beast, and Gambit.

My brother and his girlfriend now have a ferret who smells bad. They named it Athena.

                          I've always wanted a blue-tongued skink.

Anyways one time I killed my brother's fish we were watching, then our cat died of some weird hormonal disease, and then we had to put our ancient dog down cause he couldn't even get up and down stairs. This all happened within 3 months. The vet asked if we were going on vacation. Anyways I'm not sure if it was funny or just plain sad...fish-cat-dog....

put now I have two pretty kitties, Safari and Lucilian

I dunno, A humming bird, a crow, a baby kangaroo, a half dingo mutt(insane, wild dogs suck), a full blooded wolf(also not fun.), sparrows and doves, and once we took care of some kind of small monkey for like a day.

If I was rich (and didn't live in a box) I'd get a Sun Conure. We had one at the store and it would sit on my shoulder while I worked (and sometimes play with my collar). Amazingly enough, it only pooped on me once. I love the smart birds.
I had a pair of conures for awhile, not sure what type. Someone told me they could sing, but all they ever did was make the most god awful shrieking noise at all hours of the day and night no matter how much I let them out to play.

edit: Oh, and we had a tame racoon for awhile, that guy was pretty cool actually, except for the smell.

Edit 2: I wanna mention that the humming bird was probably the best pet ever, it was really gentle and sweet since I had been raising it for so long, it'd sit on my finger and everything while I fed him. Then my aunt came over and demanded to hold it, she made a sudden motion when she was telling some stupid story and scared the guy and he ended up flying into the coffee table, he died a few days later. I cried a lot.

As a kid, I kept a snail as a pet. Put it in a little jar and everything. I took it out at times to watch it slowly move along.

Then my brother stepped on it.

                              On purpose.
