    I hate...

...moving around! I hate how you have to press triangle just to run, and turning around in small places is kind of hard.

Anyone else feel the same way? I wish they could've just made it so that farther you pushed the analog stick the fast the character would run.

Pssh. That would be too easy now, wouldn't it.

I too hate the problem, and can't even fathom why the running speed is so slow.

Well, I have to agree. I guess using warps or movement points can help, or just make small fields and towns. But yeah. From what I understand from another board, the baby model is one of the fastest. So a solution would be small towns on small fields using baby models. Yay! Problem solved.

Also, don't forgot to push R2 (or one of the other shoulder buttons, I forget) for a speed boost.

ah...if only that worked in actual gameplay too, but yeah, it's a great feature for the playtest mode. True.

R2 does let you make tighter turns, though. But it's just another button you have to hold down to move.

Having used the baby model in Series 1, I can attest to this. If you get a chance, make the baby model run up a flight of stairs. My friend laughed for about a minute straight when he first saw that. Tis funny stuff.

Oh, and for those of you who play Series 1, and hate how far it is from town to town, join the mage's guild, and make the baby model as your active character. You'll get there faster, and amuse yourself watching it the whole time!

yea its ridiculous how slow the running is. a smaller field would be a good option, but another good option might be to lower the battle percentage in the area

Personally I feel that the not-super-fast speed helps gives the feel of a larger world. Makes the maps seem bigger than they really are. If only you didn't have to hold down /\ to move fast, there wouldn't be as much a problem.

true, but when it takes 2 minutes to run to a town what appears to be about 300 feet in front of me its kind of frustrating

also why did they even make walking...thats not walking, thats cautiously being alert to what youre stepping on, its as fast as creeping around was in the metal gear series

but thats why FF7 claimed to have over 100 hours of gameplay, cuz 70 of those hours were running all the way to the other side of the map...only to forget something and having to run back

Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!

                          Re: I hate...

the fact youre only allowed to use a given area of the field map, this makes map creating very limited. i want to use the entirity of the map that i create, not just the center, and ive noticed the reason u walk/run slow is because the field map is limited to the center and not the entire area you create. if you were able to run as fast as tidus from ff10 or cloud from ff7, then the center of the field map wouldnt seem as large as you think it is based off the fact of the walk/run speed.

i hate the 100 npc limit.

i cant change the colors of the 2d or 3d models with a color spectrum.

                          there is no in-game tutorial.

there is no table of experience to gauge how u should level up.

u cant change the colors of enemies using a color spectrum.

u cant equip a helmet and body armour at the same time, one or the other.

u can only equip one accessorie.

body armour and helmets dont show.

there isnt a way to equip things seperatly, ie: not diabloesque or somthing d+d like head, body, right/left arm, 10 finger slots, wrist slots, neck slot, ear slots, leg/feet slots.

                          i cant control battle sounds.

there is no 3d map option when creating fields. 2d map creator and switching from what u create to preview is tedious. it should be a 2d map creator, with a real time 3d map generator that shows u x-y-z axis in real time. and as well as, in v-mode, it isnt birds eye view, which i hate, how can i see how tall somthing is if i dont preview? stupid.

in the map editor, u cant see the placment of towns and scenery, dungeons, anything like that. just the field map is too simplified, it should be a bit more detailed, but kept just as simplified for user friendliness. (i havent played rpgm1 or 2 so im just going by whats in, and whats not in 3)

as far as i know, u cant place NPCs on the world map.

what if i can draw in paint shop and i want to use my own 2d, or 3d model creation? there isnt an option to download, or upload your own models.

what if i can create music with fruity loops or acid dj and i have midi plugins and a keyboard and drums and guitars and stuff and i want to create my own music and sounds? (this would require uploading the game to the pc with that dex drive or whatever, i doubt the ps2 could handle this with its memory size)

as far as i know, which i dont own one, but from what ive read, the HDD of the ps2 doesnt allow for more space in the memory.

i have to preview my dungeon, town, field map, and houses to hear the music i choose for them. there is no shortcut in the music select screen to choose how the BGM sounds without going into preview, this becomes tedious.

dungeons and towns use mounds when placed on the world map, though i have the option to raise or lower, but why? if i raise, there arent stairs to walk up to the place, and if i lower to make it even with the map, it may sink too far because the land isnt flat enough to become flush. to solve this, u should be given peices to add to the world map and u just place them on the map to show, "this house and building represent town 3" how ff7 is set up and other rpgs to show its a town.

                          i cant make waterfalls.

i cant name my own money, i dont mean creating my own, but changing it from gold to zenny (breath of fire) gil (final fantasy) or capitalisim.

                          no monsters in town.

180 degree turn around is lame. i have to actually turn the entire character instead of just actually turning around without going step-by-step-by-step.

my item case is to small. i hate only holding 10 items at a time, adn since when did equipment count as items and not equipment?

classes have pre-set weapons. i want to be able to learn a class (job for tactics people), and then cross-class myself like neverwinter nights and be able to use certain weapons according to what i cross-classed. adventurer-healer, so i could use all weapons from main class, and select weapons from the cross class, or somthing.

                          monsters arent NPCs

i dont own a keyboard, so i want to map the keyboard to my controller ie: spacebar is mapped to r1, shift is mapped to L1, directional keys are mapped to the d-pad.

no world based event, only field. like, when u select property control, its only used for the field, i want an event to effect the entire world, not map by map. this will simplify the usage of variables and modes.

                          update
                          i cant make bridges.

weapons and armour dont allow for charges, like for example, staff of fire, i want to be able to have access to giving my weapon like 25 charges for usage of fireball.

hopfully in rpgm4 with the ps3, it will do away with loading and unloading the enter/exit of towns and allow me to enter them or exit them in real time like in fable.

i want my weapons and things to have slots. insert this jewel for this effect.

get rid of the warp system with crossing over fields, not get rid of the warp system all together though just for fields. you should be able to cross over in real time, like all rpgs, even first gen ps2 rpgs have this. christ, even nes rpgs have this! just dont do the zelda thing, and show the entire thing move map by map......

that i cant fight with the stick used in skill/magic preview, or if youre unequipped. i want sticks for weapons.

elemental properties have effects, based off the chinese elements, japan has this too in ninjutsu - inter-promoting: wood promotes fire, fire promotes earth, earth promotes metal, and metal promotes water.
restrictions: metal restricts wood, wood restricts earth, earth restricts water, water restricts fire, fire restricts metal.

or if that doesnt work for you, keep it rpg traditional, like ice promotes fire, and fire restricts ice, water promotes lightning, and lightning restricts water (makes sense, just think), plants promote fire, and fire restricts plants, water restricts fire, adn then throw in some earth magic like quake and things. as well as you should be able to set what enemies are weak vs what with your own percentile of damage inflicted on whats weak, or strong, and what absorbs, or takes no damage from. it doesnt have to be exactly like this though, i cant remmeber the entire formula of strength and weaknesses in rpgs.

why i cant put caves inside of mountains... EVERY rpg including NES has this in it.

                          dungeon detail is boring.

game speed is very slow. if your stats are equal to the area youre in, youll be there for a while fighting battles one at a time. theres ways around this, but i shouldnt have to fight against somthing that i can create myself.

do away with selecting how fast you level up, like i said earlier, give me a table and i decide whats what.
give me tables to figure out my own percentages of atk vs def, magic vs mdf, luck vs status effects agi vs agi etc. percentages arent confusing, use a calculator and get your average, whatever the average is, thats your percentage, or u could actually do the math for percentages with a calculator, those texas instruments calcs. are very, very useful.

character status is basic. there should be somthing that has not only the regular atk def etc, but also, fire defense, ice defense etc. i know mdf has this, but thats just applied for damage, but what about seperate element stats? mdf is only used for magic as a whole, but what if my character equips armour like Air Mantle, i cant raise his air defense or air magic attack based off of this armour?

why do i have no eye drops for blind status, and im not sure, but is there even a blind status? sombody on this forum said somthing about who casts silence anyway... i do.

why is there no protect, haste, shell, reflect type magic? this stuff is useful when u know how to use it.

i want to level everything past 99.

in diablo there is a paladin who can cast auras, like thorns and such. i want a new magic that has u cast auras.

again with the towns, why should i create an entire town that i only want one object, or house in?

when i paint rock on my field, and have battles on it, why is rock lava filled, what if im not somewhere near a volcano or hell? alot of these things may be open if i beat Dear Brave Heart, but that game to me, is kind of boring.

again with averages and percentages. i want my game to be as balanced as possible without having to set this stat-playtest-it doesnt work-set again-playtest-it doesnt work-set again-playtest-it doesnt work over and over again. this is really, really, really mundane, and sometimes drives me bord to turn it off.

why cant my NPCs sit down? even on super nintendo and nes games, sprites were made to appear as if sitting down...

                          for now, this is it....
