...and it never used to do that. Sometimes, I'll be typing a long post and need to take some time to think about what I'm going to say. So a while later, I'll submit the post, and it'll tell me I'm not logged in anymore. Is this one of the "improvements" of the revamped forum? Is there some way that I don't know about to avoid this happening? And also, what is the time limit you get through inactivity before it logs you out? Thanks in advance.

Re: It keeps logging me out...
Well your buddy might also have his browser set to clear cookies on broswer exit, or not keep them at all. So that is likely what is happening. Of course I think you can set all cookies to expire after a certain amount of time using the broswer as well.
Staying logged in reqiures the use of a DB on the server, and cookies client side for most forum systems. If they conflict with one another it always assumes you logged out as a security precaution. So if you delete the cookie it stores (or something else does) it assumes you're not logged in.Last edited by thetruecoolness; 10-15-2006, 02:54 PM.

Re: It keeps logging me out...
I have a similar problem, where if I take too long making a post, the site assumes I have left and, though I'm still logged in, it no longer tells me what new posts I haven't read. Only way I've been able to fix it is if I open a different page of the Pavilion in a new window and refresh every couple minutes.Last edited by ErikaFuzzbottom; 10-15-2006, 06:29 PM."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Re: It keeps logging me out...
I have a forum I run and in the administration menu theres a section for cookie settings, usually the session length is 3600 seconds(1 hour), if you stay logged in longer then that, even with activity, itll ask you to re-login if you don't have that "remember password" box checked, though that is my forum, im not sure how this forums admin menu works but I cant turn off cookies and it requires a session length time from 1 to 9999 seconds, as far as i know every forum requires the use of cookies for login information and also requires session length times for security reasons
another is if your friend has an anti-virus program on his comp that blocks cookies, as coolness stated, in that case just go into the anti-virus security menu and allow pavilionboards.com/

Re: It keeps logging me out...
I wasnt here for the board update so if everyones having a problem with the board then it might be a board setting(duh..lol)
also the board update might conflict with older OS systems or browsers, not sure though, i know i have Win 98 and firefox and most new updates is configured with newer OS's in mind and mine isnt compatible, though I havent had a problem with this forum yet, ive only been here a few days so I cant speak much on that topicLast edited by JPS; 10-22-2006, 10:16 PM.

Re: It keeps logging me out...
It does this once in a great while, but only if I don't click on a link or post a message for an amount of time.Last edited by Red Dragon; 10-22-2006, 10:22 PM.

Re: It keeps logging me out...
theres a little login troll that resides in the forum, when someone fixes their login problem they kick him out and he has to go find somewhere else to live
maybe you just took too long typing what you wanted to say?
go into options->internet settings->privacy->advanced settings and override automatic cookie handing, allow first party cookies and block third party cookies, this cuts down on popups, unwanted spyware, and will probably fix your login problem since its not automatically controlled by the browser anymore
