PSP broke again. - Post your broken system stories here!

So I was gonna play Mega Man: Powered Up. the PSP's d-pad registers every direction as "down" again. I dont think I can risk throwing the damn thing like last time. Well, I know the first thing I'm buying when I get a job. and if a new PSP does this crap, I will walk to Ken Kutaragi's house, and lodge both PSPs in his goddamn throat.

So to make this topic a bit fun, lets all post the various system screw-ups we've had.

Game Gear - Rarely recognizes any game that is not Tails' Adventure
Game Boy - contrast adjuster is all screwed up. screen is either too dark, or too light, there is no happy medium.
PS1 - Refuses to spin discs.
PS2 - Died, Died, DRE, DRE. #5 is good so far though!
Genesis - ignored up and down input from any controller in player 1 port
Gamecube - resets every 10-15 minutes
Dreamcast - will not boot my favorite games. has also always crashed if the first pool-side cinema in sonic adventure isnt skipped.
X Box - Stopped working after being thrown at oncoming car.

I should note that systems screwing up on me is actually rare. I collect video game systems, and have multiples of most. The game gear and genesis on this list were obtained at a pawn shop, and are not my only game gear or genesis. The game boy that screws up is one of 5 that I own (all have different color shells, from that play it loud campaign they ran), and was bought at a yard sale. I'm pretty sure the X Box thing is my fault, too.

One day my playstation stopped working, so I put it up at its side, worked then, then it stopped working that way after a few months, so it would only work when upside down. Then it died out just in time for the holidays when the PSone released.

The only system that has died on me is a Gamecube.

A year ago, I bought three Sega Saturns that ****ed up on me and died.

$30.00 a piece. So I threw away $90.00 on Saturns that were just inane pieces of crap.

Oh, and when I used to own the old Nintendo, I had to blow in it to get the games to work. I don't have that problem as much with the NES2 model I have.

I have the NES problem too, but didnt feel like noting it since everyone that doesnt have a top-loader has the same problem.

It was probably the PS1 cooling issue. The originals only had vents on the bottom, therefore, if you ran it upside down from purchase, it always worked. Later versions had the cool side ridge vents.

I've blown more NES games than most hookers have blown men.

You're wrong, Valk, the "xbox thing" was most definitely the xbox's fault.

BTW, Mega Man: Powered Up is amazing. Good pick.

NES - Had to smack it sometimes to get it work. After a while, smacking it made it not work. =\
SNES - Got yellow. Mostly dead. Luckily, a friend's SNES has taken up residence in our home.
PSone - Went through... 3 I think? First one was real good until it Chrono Cross. Then there were problems with each one after that until...
PS2 - AH. This piece of ****. Went through 4, not sure exactly, had to return a bunch to stores because they wouldn't work at all in record time. Currently own 3 now, but one's on its last legs.

...yeah, I guess that's it. Not sure about the Sega systems though I think our first Dreamcast takes a while to read discs.

Went through 2 or 3 Sega CD systems back in the day. They're just junk, it seemed everybody had that problem.

My first PlayStation died on me before I first started going to the Pavilion, all those years ago (okay, its just a few, so sue me). It was perfectly fine, and then poof- dead.

My PS2 is acting up now. Its no surprise, I've had it since Xmas 2002. Some games it won't play (like Xenosaga- will not play any copy of this game PERIOD), some games it freezes up, on the GTA games (particularly San Andreas) the gameplay is getting choppy, and it won't even play DVDs anymore.

PS2 was fine until I did a dumb thing- cleaned it. Go figure.

Palm of my hand. It worked when blowing and Q-tips didn't. Like a woman.

                            Recently:

PSP- My ****ing volume buttons don't work anymore. They register
as the "Home" button and the only way I can change the volume
is if I use my Headphone adaptor. =/

PS1(Old)- The center piece came out of the disc loader, and our older one
                            hardly plays.

PS2- Went through 1. Got DRE, wouldn't play DVD's anymore.
Our current one is working great though.
