    I need refreshing

My birthday is tomorrow and I'll finally be getting RPGM3. I just need a little refreshing on some things that I had asked earlier.

    1. Can you actually do the water like they do on the back of the box? I mean can it be level with the field.

    2. What are some ways to make the characters level up at a good enough way for the next world? My first game takes a lot of battling before you reach each new place.

    3. I understand modes and variables but I don't understand how to switch characters in the middle of gameplay. Help me please.

    4. What are some ways to make a dungeon better on the player, even if it's painstakingly long?

I don't need anymore help. Really I just need advice. Please I'm getting the game tomorrow and I need some assisstance. Please just help with the ones you can.

    Re: I need refreshing

    I can help with 1, 2 and 4.

    1. You can, and can't. That might be a strange question, but you can get up to closed to level of the ground, but you will need to slop the area around it to make it look right. It usually defaults at below land.

    2. Well that is pretty easy. Just up the exp points or have events give exp points.

    4. You can make it one room if you want. If you want to add different things for the player, then puzzles or events in the dungeons so it doesn't become a dungeon crawl bore.

      3. Check the "answers to basic questions" thread stickied at the top of this forum. If it's still confusing, we'll go from there, but it links to a pretty in-depth explanation.

I say, don't give the monsters in the next place stats until you know how powerful the party will be once they get there.

          Some more input, nothing earth-shattering...

          1. For walkable "beach" that is level with the water set Pos Z to a height of 82 in V-Mode of the Field Editor. (with the field's elevation set at "average") To get it to look like the back of the box, yes, as Vonwert said, with tweaking and trial and error, you can do that successfully. That is a picture from the actual game.

          4. Along with events that you can make happen in dungeons, you can use the breakable walls to hide secret items or completely hidden areas, even using a touch event nearby to give a heads up to the player with a sound effect, if you'd like.

Well, Good luck, and congratulations on getting the game too.

Actually, 82 height is only if you use medium water level (or is it high?). At low water level, the water level is at 40. You'd want land at 1 higher than sea level, as land at or below sea level is unwalkable, even if it looks walkable.

Also, any land within 5 above sea level is automatically changed to beach.

For number 2, give your characters "initial stats" through events, then set their stat bonuses for levels really low. Then all you have to do is playtest a little.

Or, just start them off at level 10 or something. Works pretty well.

I don't know if you've tried this, but you could set their leveling up speed to "fast" instead of the default "average".
