    Mora's mom?

    Americans mistaking package for portion
By CANDICE CHOI, Associated Press Writer

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - At 170 calories per serving, Kathryn Mora figured the spaghetti was harmless. So she slurped away, eating her fill. A closer look at the nutrition label destroyed all those warm comfort food feelings: A serving was just an eighth of the box — not the whole thing.

"I can eat the entire box, like that," said Mora, snapping her fingers.

And bigger packaging over the years may have distorted perceptions.
    Tell it, sister.

Yeah, the nutrition facts sure are 'hard to understand'. Bulls*it.

I remember in grade school going over point by point what the nutrition facts were made up of. It's not rocket science.

American's are not only obese, but they can't read or comprehend simple math either.

          *high five*

America is oblivious to anything health related. Then they try and turn the attention off of themselves and say its due to the fact that simple math is difficult to understand.

America is fat, and its no one's fault except their own.

Only AMERICA has weight issues! It all makes sense! Yes, all Americans can't read, yes, yes, of course! It's JUST us!!

I enjoy topics that deal with harsh condemnation of masses of stupid people.

You said it. I can't stand people who sue McDonalds or other fast food places because "It made them fat". They act like McDonalds shoved the food down their throats.

Who was it here that mentioned how American food is generally fattier than food native to other countries?

Anyway, it's amazing how small serving sizes of food is. Rediculous. Who actually only eats 1 serving, anyway? Like how a serving of cereal is 1 cup. I'd say my bowl of cereal normally reaches 3 cups or so, and I sometimes have seconds.

I don't think serving sizes are small, I just think Americans are spoiled by the 'bigger is better' attitude.

I'm pissed off that McDonald's no longer has the "Super Size" option.

Oh well. At least Burger King has triple whoppers now.

I guarentee I'd still be hungry if I only ate a serving of cereal (or some other food). It'd be like those expensive diet places where one makes those "I moved the pea and found my steak" jokes.

so, check it - the reason there are no fat japanese people.

meanwhile, we have sally struthers over here(formerly) devouring a tub 5 times that size in like a night.

yes, america is fat. I live in houston, what I believe is the fattest city in the country. at the place I work (HEB deli), I think about 19 out of 20 people who come in and are over the age of 30 are obese. most people here barely know how to take care of themselves.

Nobody said America was the only country that has health issues. The topic is that obesity is a growing problem in America well beyond any other country.

We have all chances to understand the nutrition facts on the back of our food. It is very basic.

So, the uh, conclusion is that fat people are stupid.
