    Dexdrives

    I have a question.

I've looked for a ps1 and ps2 dexdrive before, at a few local gaming stores, but none have had it.

Where could I find either or both of them? Would I have to look online?

    Thanks

    Re: Dexdrives

For a PS1 dex drive, you can get one at amazon.com for about 8 bucks here.

You can also get a shark port from amazon, which is used to transfer files on a PS2 memory card (there's no such thing as a PS2 dex drive).

There's something called a Max Drive as well, which does the same thing as the Shark Port. You might be able to get that off ebay. I don't know which is better, though.

      Thanks a ton

EDIT: Wait, do you need a phoneline for the dexdrive/sharkport, or does it come with a cord that attaches to the computer?

the cords come with the unit, not like the idiots who sold me my printer without a computer hook up. i guess they thought it was a stupid thing to acualy think i might want to use my printer when i get it - no, good thing i buy stuff like that for paperwights.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!
Card Three is released! You can find it here!

Or like the time EB gave me my Suikoden III case with a ****ing Madden game in it. Yeah, they didn't give us any extra credit for driving an hour back to get the damn game I payed for.

dex drive connects using the 9-pin COM port. not all computers have one, so check first!

the Max Drive seems to be the RPG Maker 2 Standard these days. not that it matters, we have a save converter.

Um...where would I look to see if it has the port?

look on the back of your computer, and look for a port that has 9 pin holes in it.

                  Re: Dexdrives

I still have my dex drive on my old PC. I still like how it looks and functions (though "dex drive wrestling" wasnt all that fun at times...).

I bought a max drive a few weeks ago for Madden/gt4 and I love it. Too bad everything has to be uncrushed.

                      Re: Dexdrives

As for the dex, you might not have any luck at all checking your local game stores. Dex Drives have been outdated for a couple of years now. You may want to order one from amazon or EB Games (thats where I got mine back in 2001).

I assume I'll need to buy some extra PS1 memory cards? I could easily clear them, but I only have two, and one's a double(with a switch), but I'm not sure if that's enough.

                          Re: Dexdrives

Even though you wouldnt need another memory card ever again as you can simply upload your saves to your pc and then delete them from the card, stocking up on extra memory cards wouldnt hurt as having just one might be a bit restrictive when it comes to leaving your pc for your ps1.

They're inexpensive and will reduce the time you spend switching them amongst the dex drive.

                            Re: Dexdrives

you will not find a dex drive in a store. they were discontinued in april of 2000. and then when RPG Maker 1 came out, the RPGM community snapped up every dex drive still at stores.

as for PS1 memory cards, never hurts to have more. gamestops usually carry them for around 3 dollars each now.
