while getting up 3 hours previous to your grandparents while you spend a night with your cousin at their house?
Look no farther than Disgaea for the PS2.
I swear to god I traded this game in for $30.00 and i swear to god God needs to damn me to hell for it.
Let me be primative in my summaries-
Over 150 character classes- and I do mean classes. Meaning this one..is different from that one. Nice, eh?
_______________________________________________________
Ability to recruit any...hm? any? Does that mean nearly any boss, any single enemy unit faced, and every god damn enemy in the game excluding the last boss, perhaps only because the game ends after facing him? damn right it does!! That's right, you can replay the first level and recruit every single enemy..then go back and recruit them again. Then fight a boss and recruit him? Hell yes. Any single enemy, excluding some bosses(many are recruitable) can be recruited, and the first time you kill a type of enemy, it keeps a tally on the number of times you've killed it. And once you kill the type once, you can make an endless number from the (Senate? I forget, I'll just refer to it as the senate for now, but that's not what it's called...it's basically the same idea though), and it costs less mana(basically gold for the senate) the more you kill of the type. Or you could just, you know, keep some strong units in your base square and throw the enemy onto the square, getting him at the level he is. Firstly, you can have up to or over(not quite sure) 150 characters at a time. 8 can be out on a battlefield, but you start the battle with no one out. You have a base square(just a blue warp-like beacon) where you pull any one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, or eight of your characters out. Simply put, your hero is nigh-dead. Pull your damn gunman back in..and pull your cleric out. Heal him, and then pull her back in..and then pull your gunman back out, all in one turn. Sexy, eh?
Level 9,999
________________________
I only need to say one thing here. After 131 hours (you heard me right), my main character, whom I had been power-leveling a little, was level 225. Out of 9,999.
Transmutation(start back at level 1!)

Yep, start over at level 1....with better stat growth ^.-
Any character can use any weapon
_____________________________
It might sound pointless, and it doesn't do very well, but something about having a slim cleric all in his/her robe and dainty hair, eyes closed in perfect religious solitude, holding a GIANTASS AXE is just plain effing sexy. The weapon classes are: unarmed(fists), sword, axe, spear, gun, bow, and staff(and monster..just for uh...the monster characters).
Every character has acess to any weapon, and they have proficiencies with each style.
So a priest's any-weapon-but-bow-and-staff mastery goes up slow, but with patience, it doesn't matter. Weapon mastery can go up to 99, but again, the highest I reached was 20. And that was after MASSIVE power-weapon-mastery-leveling, I think it was about 16 hours(not all in a row..just uh..yeah).
Each level in weapon mastery increases the unit's damage with that type of weapon, and at level 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, and 20(something like that, been a while) the unit learns a skill with that weapon.
This excludes the staff, which instead raises magic damage(including healing, +accuracy with status thingies) with each weapon mastery level, and every couple of levels increases the area of effect and range of every spell.
While it may seem pointless, you can get any unit so massively strong that if you're patient enough, your axe-wielding cleric could easily own the final boss. BTW the final boss is only level
*SPOILER*
105 or so, the real challenge are the bonus levels, having enemies of up to 9,999.
Item world
______________
I don't feel like getting into this, let's just say that every single weapon, armor, accessory, and item can get up to level 100. And what happens here is you fight a weird random battle for each level up for the weapon, along with finding special enemies in the levels that affect the weapon(aka on level 12 you might see a guy called "weaponmaster" and if you kill him, the weapon increases weapon mastery leveling speed).
Yes, that's right. You can level up your ****ing herb to level 100. any point in doing that? Dunno O.o...but uh...
I do know leveling weapons can massively increase damage along with other obvious bonuses for armor. And those special guys, by the way, make your weapon or armor usually end up adding to almost every stat. AND you can move those special guys to any item you want. So if you want to go around and find five billion +armor guys, you can transfer them all to a weapon and have a weapon that adds like 10,000 defense and only 125 atk.
Just as an example, the very first sword I bought, after getting it to level 24 or so, did as much damage as about the fifteenth sword. first sword=10 to atk, fifteenth=596 or so. You don't move from town to town, you just upgrade your town's shops to get better items, at the senate.
Senate
___________
This is where you buy all new recruits, and fill all proposals
Random proposal list, not even close to full---
Triple Exp(for first kill next battle)
Increase bonus gauge(*sigh*, more explaining. Each battle has a bonus gauge that can go up to 9. Basically, the more combos(Yes, I know it's a SRPG) you achieve, the higher it goes. Each time the gauge goes up 1, you get more gold or exp or an item when you beat the level)
Plead(for money. Kinda pointless, seeing as how they're so high of a level that you would spend 999999999999X more for the items to beat them than you would get from winning)
Unlock Bonus Levels(first ones merely require a lot of mana-Later ones, the senators are so damn hard on you that if you spent every item in your inventory they would "feel nothing" on the subject, while every one else had you on their hit list. So you have to be strong enough to beat them. Ouchies.)
Eh, there's an effload more, I don't feel like getting into it.
COMBINE ENEMIES(throw)
_______________________
You can throw anybody, or just hold them above your head. Very sexy, especially if you get your tank to hold onto your cleric. Unit being held can't do anything, and holder takes damage while holding them. But the holder can move them to safety, or you could just lift a hard as ef***e enemy and hold him while you kill everyone else.
BTW, you can throw to enemies together to combine their levels. Good for power-leveling
I don't think I need to say anything else. Look for this game, and when/if you find it, BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT.
BTW, it has a nice story. You're a demon prince in the underworld trying to make sure no one takes your throne.
It gets really deep too, it's nice.
