    Free 360 repairs

"As part of our standard and ongoing process of analyzing repair data, we recently noticed a higher than usual number of units coming in for repair. Upon further investigation, it was further discovered that the bulk of the units were isolated to a group that was part of the initial manufacturing run of the console. Returns for repair are coming in for a variety reasons and it's a higher rate than we are satisfied with. We've made the decision to comp repairs for consoles manufactured before January 1, 2006, and provide refunds to the small group of customers who have already paid for repairs."
I can't remember who it was but I remember somebody here posting about having to spend a buttload to get their 360 repaired. Well, if it was a 2005 model you can get your money back.

    Here

Hmm, how can I tell when my original was manufactured? They sent me a refurbished 360, not my original.

This will greatly compensate 360 owners who probably bought theirs on launch day--when some of them had problems.

My friend recently got an XBox 360 with a cooling system to prevent his console from overheating.
Despite what you think, I am very, very real.

If you still have the info from your repair service (confirmation numbers or whatever) you should be able to call and ask if it is covered under this reimbursement.

i bought mine a few months back, but it's still under warrenty. I had to send mine in for fixin' cuz the damn disc drive kept messing up (getting DRE's on some games, and DVD movies would freeze), but they told me it would be free.

I had to send mine out a few weeks ago because the picture just didn't show up, not on any TV. For a while the picture just looked ugly, then it died out. The guy said that it was probably just the av cable, I said probably not because it didn't act like a regular picture problem, but they sent me a new av cable anyways. That didn't work either. So yeah, just waiting for my 360 to get back.

My 360 (NTSC console, not Euro PAL version) arrived one month after launch and it had 0 problems so far. Had it running for over 6 hours, it was hit by a solid object, fell from one foot and is still running fine.

No sign of failing on this machine.. yet..
